I have rarely seen anything so depressing and so anger provoking. If nuclear weapon testing was confined to Washington DC, London, Paris, Peking, Karachi, New Delhi and Jeruselem (Israel is said to have nuclear weapons but the testing thereof wasn't shown on the videoclip), then the enthusiasm for testing nuclear weapons might be somewhat less.

It makes me angry that a lot of testing represents jingoistic pissing contests between the big powers of the USA and USSR, and the pissant puny minor powers of France and Great Britain and latterly India and Pakistan.

Britain and its Australian sycophantic political arse lickers didn't seem to mind the cost to the Indigines Australians resident in the testing areas, nor did it seem that the feckin' Frogs cared much about the local yokels in the parts of the "Pacific" paradise that they tested their weapons in either.

Although there is a nuclear test ban treaty, not all are signatories to it, and some pricks are still banging on under the radar.

Thanks for posting it Gator...it should be seen by more people.

One can only imagine that if all the money that went into the building and testing of these bombs was put into developing a new type of energy where we would be today !

And the government has the audacity to preach about environmental effects of hairspray and automobiles. Bet all those nukes really helped the environment and the people living therein. Should've just had everyone practice their nuclear testing on Tehran.

SHEESH! It's a wonder our whole western half isn't glowing brightly....... Between 1958 and the early 70's, the old Earth was lit up like a pinball machine on overload!

I once studied surving a nuclear war, it is survivable.

Never would have guessed so many of the damn things have been set off. We're still here. Must be survivable... please God.

What reason is there to test over 1000 devices? To see if they go boom each time you tell them to?
Sickening. and I was never an anti-nuke guy.

Wonder what that deep part of the Ocean NE of Chell looks like...

I doubt the accuracy of the blips that indicate the shots beyond being in the country or general area. Those shots that looked to be in the ocean were on atolls or other islands. I don't think there were any under water shots than at Bikini Atoll, but won't insist.

Aside the risks of contamination and longer lasting effects, I think we did learn some physics from the tests that contributed to our power plant development, at least I hope so.

Well, in time lapse, it sure looked like during the entire cold war, the Rooskies and the US were sure bombing the s**t out of themselves.

I admit that I never looked into it but figured that the sum of all our tests in NV was under 10... Pretty eye opening to say the least.

    Las Vegas near "Hot" Ground?

Sort of makes me think again about going anywhere near Rachel, Nev. and the Lil Ale-E-Inn diner and bookstore--near Area 51--north of Las Vegas.

That map makes it look like Jolly Olde England bombed the beejeezus out of poor Australia! Of course, the vast majority of these tests were deep underground...... Probably had ol' Satan wondering what the Devil the noisy Humans 'upstairs' were doing to themselves........

    Ask the Bikini People

Some Pacific Islands are still ininhabitable it seems. The French, British and Americans didn't give much care nor concern for the wishes of the local inhabitants of testing ground islands....but colonial nations rarely do I guess. The Australians regrettably didn't have much spine when it came to nuclear testing in Australia by the British. If the British wanted to test its nukes, it could have used the Isle of Man if it wanted to...but the Manx folk rated a bit more consideration than some random tribal Australian Aboriginals. : S
