7b and pure clay, well used to be. 4 years of adding organic material has helped.

My local climate rating would probably be 10b

My local climate rating would probably be 10b with clay soil. Being close to the coast, temperatures are fairly mild. Rain is fairly evenly distributed through the year, but with a slightly discernable increase in mid-late summer. Relatively mild winters and hot, mostly humid summers.

Climate is well suited to growing a wide range of homesteading crops, such that with careful varietal selection and cultivation techniques, many cold climate and tropical climate crops can also be successfully grown on a non commercial small scale.
