I've lived in similar conditions, but it isn't something I would seek out. I remember being told by a wise old sage years ago in the Corps, "Son, you don't have to practice being miserable."
Two words ( Damn Hippies) All jokes aside you can find alot of these communities around rail yards and just ouside the larger cities. There use to be a place just outside of Charlotte NC they called it box town or string town not sure it's been along time. We use to have alot of shoplifters, and thefts we would trace back to the people there.
They will just start stealing more either that or the Goverment give them a tax credit for being eco friendly and first time home builders.
Wait till the the local goverements planning board, zoning board, Building inspectors, health and human resource's, treasury department, Get to them.
I don't blame them for being homeless and poor. But why build a hippy camp and live with a bunch of freaks when you could just camp in the woods. They screwed up the best part of camping, getting away from people.
