Korean research, a first step toward Dr. Smartphone? | Reuters

This is cool in one way...but, there's the potential for malfeasance. DNA being picked up by your phone and then a K supercomputer analyzing the data and putting you in a profile. Too bad Michael Crichton is not around to write something cool and terrifying about this.

You starting getting Google ads about caskets around the highest probability of your death....or your disappear because you have the right chemistry to have your organs harvested....or, simply, your insurance goes up very high because of the high probability of your early death.

    Chelloveck has an unorthodox relationship

Chelloveck has an unorthodox relationship with his eventually to be ex wife. They live apart, and have done so for over a decade, living for years at a time in different States, and it quite bemuses their close christian friends that he and she can be on such amicable terms with each other and that they are helpfull and cooperative together, showing the kind of civility and mutual respect that generally ought go with an actual marriage. The War of the Roses is not their style. Her frail, elderly father had been declining for some time, and chello, would help with looking after him while she took her mother grocery shopping. He also has stayed with her parents at times so that she could have some respite breaks to have some down time to herself. Her father passed away late last year, but chello still usually visits weekly to do some yard work for her mother, and challenge, usually unsuccessfully, her and her mother to games of scrabble, at which they are both ruthlessly take no prisoners competitive at.

Chelloveck and his eventually to be ex wife attend the same family functions: his, hers and theirs (they have children and grandchildren). Sometimes she has had in attendance her relationship interest (not chelloveck), and he (chelloveck) treats her current at the time relationship interest civilly (while at the same time scratching his head, wondering "what was she thinking??" and surmising that she could have done much better), yet having the sang froid to not make much more of a scene about it than inwardly rolling his eyes at the time.

Chelloveck lives the life of a virtual bachelor, separated, single without any romantic attachments, nor with any interest or ambitions in having any. His only serious stable relationships are with his fishing rods and a compound bow. He is seriously thinking of extending his relationship reach to including a boat: lord knows, a wife would be cheaper, but a boat won't nag him to death, and it will generally go in the direction that it is steered.

Chelloveck's principal ambition in life is to become an eccentric, at which endeavour he is making remarkable progress.

"Diabolus" is not definitive. Male or female? There's an argument similar to how many angels can fit on the head of a pin. At the end of it all it won't matter; most of us are going to have a pitchfork run thru, at least for a short while till the judgement comes back.

I must have translated wrong. I thought it was Snake in the Grass.

    Diabolus Causidicus, means "Devil's Advocate"

Diabolus Causidicus, translated from the Latin, means "Devil's Advocate", which is an office within the Holy See: largely ineffectual, judging by the number of canonised saints that have passed muster in the Catholic faith over the ages. The sobriquet is non gender specific, though in Christian mythology it is assumed that the Devil is of male gender.

My nom de plume represents a prediliction for offering what I believe to be cogent and valid, if sometimes unpopular argumentation against what I consider to be invalid or fallaciously argued propositions, that are none the less popular. Without challenged opinions, discussion merely degenerates into that of a mutual agreement society with all the potential ills that come with a "group think" mentality.

I must admit that my favorite people in life are as eccentric as me. Most of us are viewed critically by others who fail to understand our life styles are of our own choice and our temperaments are to our liking. In my experience, most of us are solitary souls who are not terribly concerned by how we are judged by others, rarely, if ever, feeling the need to explain or defend our action, opinions, decision or our politics. Our primary goal in life is not to make friends and the few true friends we have accept us as we are without trying to change us to fit a model. So Chello, continue in your quest for eccentricity because you are among many of your ilk here on SM

It would seem that I am that which I aspire to.

Thank you for your kind thoughts RightHand....eccentrics are often misunderstood, and folk more often than not focus on the beliefs and behaviours that depart from the conventional orbit of societal approval than the more mundane aspects of their lives. Some, but not all eccentrics are crazy, and some, but not all crazy people are eccentric.

Eccentrics are actually essential to a functional society. If eccentrics were all exterminated in a holocaust like manner, what would our world be like without the creative contributions of such eccentrics as Albert Einstein, Turing, Mozart, Oscar Wilde, Isaac Newton, Jeremy Bentham among many others. I make no claims of genius, but I do try to make what positive contributions to society that I can.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eccentricity_(behavior)

I don't have any desperate need for approval, and don't require others to provide me with affirmation. My friends such as they are, accept me as I am, even though we often have quite different belief systems, partly because I seem to be able to empathise with their viewpoints without embracing, nor disrespecting their points of view.

Having read the characteristics of benign eccentricity, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eccentricity_(behavior)#CharacteristicsI am somewhat startled to discover that I already seem to possess many of the described characteristics, so I can only conclude that I have been eccentric for some time, and, like a work of art, my eccentricity is a lifelong work in progress!

Seems that I might qualify as a confirmed eccentric and, looking closely, so do most of those with whom I have a strong bond.

Interesting. I guess if I was better educated and had a better understanding of literary terms/writings and the way educated people communicated I would have realized this. I had no idea and apologize for any rude behavior I may have exhibited towards you. No wonder I do not understand the way you write, I'm the one that is failing with the English language. Half the stuff you write I do not get and sounds like jibberish to me. I'm feeling pretty small about now.

An education is what is left behind after you forget everything you learned, which I've forgotten most of. If I could go back, I think I'd rather have a trade/skill (e.g., plumbing, electrician). You can take those skills anywhere.

As a society, we've looked down our noses since the 80s at people without college degrees that having a trade/skill is almost a lost art. Schools/parents push ALL kids into college...even the ones that shouldn't be there. And that's the issue--to get those kids to graduate, college had to be dumbed down so much that having a degree these days isn't saying much. What we've ended up with is an uneducated horde without any skills.
