Ruger 10/22 takedown

looks interesting, I like the idea.

Wonder if they are currently available or when they will be?

just sent an email to my local gun shop to see if their distributors have the rifle in stock.

 

I'm not usually paranoid but I'm pretty sure this is a plot to starve me to death by denying me money for food by continually placing things for sale that I have to have leaving nothing left for food.

I'm pretty sure that guy Quigley_Sharps is part of the conspiracy that has my ex-wife as it's head

Finally got a 1-22 after waiting forever, and then a month later....this comes along.

Good thing I left Las Vegas years ago - my luck still sucks.

Interesting idea, but more than I'd want to pay for a rifle of mediocre performance.

 

Local store get's them in tomorrow, $314.00 + tax + BC.

Looks like I will be making a detour on the way home tomorrow

 

I am buying one.

I have a soft spot for anything take-down or folding.

I have no idea why the gun makers aren't seeing those rising prices of Model 24s, M6 Scouts, etc. HUGE MARKET PEOPLE!!!

Just got done cleaning mine after a trip to the range. Nice little gun, shoots like a ruger 10/22. The range people were like "What the heck is that!?"

The rifle goes together easy and comes apart easy. While cleaning I did notice that the pins in this Ruger are MUCH looser than the ones in my other 10/22. Had a couple of the pins on the main trigger assembly just fall out once removed from the receiver body.

I like the case it comes with, except for the Ruger logo on the front of it, I'll prolly sew a piece of velcro over it.

 

The loose trigger group pins are why I ended up polishng the trigger/sear on mine - it fell out, so I decided to do it.
While the 10-22 has never endeared itself to me, it's an alright rifle.
Ruger had made a folding version some years back with the barrel on a hinge system. Probably has some 'collector value' by now.

 

yeah, I may end up doing the mod to make the bolt auto release, never did understand why Ruger set it up the way that they did.

Forgot to mention that there were some burs on mag well that I had to file off. At first it was hard getting the magazine in and out until I found the burs, got rid of them, now it's good to go.

 

I won't be trading my ar-7 for this. The ar-7 breaks down to a much smaller piece and works great out to 50 yards. If your in a survival situation that plenty. Oh and i got my ar-7 years ago for $75. I think the 10-22 is a much more refined gun but it's a different league than the ar-7.

I had an AR-7, or rather Henry's Survival Rifle version of it. It worked great, considering I didn't pay anything for it. When I worked for a local gun range a guy put it on consignment for $50.00, which was the consignment fee, as an employee I didn't pay that fee so the gun cost me a background check (ok, so it wasn't "free" but..)

I had to send it back to henry to get it working, don't know what he did to it but it would eject the spent casings to the left instead of the right causing it to jam up. Henry fixed it up, free of charge. I did not pay for shipping either direction. Henry is a stand up company.

Back to the AR-7, it was ok. I didn't care for the sights, and if you put a scope on it you could not store the receiver in the stock, no biggie. The stock cracked under light use so it was no longer water tight. The fat stock was uncomfortable for me to shoot and the wife was even less impressed with it. For a survival type weapon, everyone that is capable of shooting it in my family needs to be comfortable with it.

She likes my 10/22, so that's why I got this. I also like the availability of accessories for the 10/22 vs. the AR-7.

Every person is different in what they need and want out of a firearm, so it's a good thing there are many different ones out there for us to choose from.

Oh and I sold my AR-7 for $250, pretty nice profit

 

Having owned a Charter Arms AR7 and a 10/22, the 10/22 is a ton better. Only downside, until now, there was no take down model. I bought a Marlin Papoose a few months ago.... now I think I may ditch the papoose.

This rig with a set of tech-sights.... amazing.

 

Well...

Currently possessing a Henry (and another on the way), A Papoose, the Rossi Combo (hard to tell it from a Papoose), M6 Scout and a couple of Sub2Ks in the way of backpack guns, I just couldn't resist the 10/22 Takedown. Should be in next week and I can see if it is worth what they are getting.

 

Tried the new 10-22 take down at the range Tuesday. NIIICCCEE! Of course it is just a 10-22 with take down feature, but it came right apart and shot excellently. $300 out the door at Sheels. Came with carry bag and other neat stuff. The street price will probably come down a bit when the hype gets toned down, but yeah, it sure beat the snot out of the Henry AR-7!!
