Somebody needs to explain this. It makes no sense to me. Does he really think that is helping the american people?

Democratic majority's "brilliant plan on how to deal with gas prices: raise taxes on energy companies, when gas is already hovering around $4 a gallon. Then block consideration of anything else—just to make sure gas prices don't go anywhere but up."

I thought maybe it was part of his how not to get re-elected plan, but then I realized that his voter base will blame Bush anyways.

Why is it that I consistently believe that these toads don't recognize the difference between revenue and profit?

    and bammy fails again

The dem controlled CONgress fails to deliver for the Prez - one more time.

Oil companies only make about 6% on net - wheeas Apple makes 28.20% on net.

    "
WASHINGTON -- President Barack Obama called on Congress to stop taxpayer-funded subsidies for oil companies, and the Senate promptly ignored him Thursday.
Senators voted 51 to 47 to end debate on a bill that would do what Obama asked, thus failing to reach the 60 votes needed to end a filibuster.
The rebuff came just an hour after the president took to the Rose Garden to make his appeal, arguing that with oil prices hovering at around $100 a barrel and oil companies netting billions of dollars each financial quarter, there's little reason to give taxpayer-funded aid to the U.S. petroleum industry."

Several Dems voted with the Pubbies

It was mostly Republicans who thought that way, although four Democrats -- Sens. Mary Landrieu (La.), Ben Nelson (Neb.), Jim Webb (Va.) and Mark Begich (Alaska) -- joined with the GOP. Sens. Olympia Snowe and Susan Collins, the two Maine Republicans, voted with the majority of Democrats.

Snow has already announced she is not running at the end of her term.

Businesses don't pay taxes, they pass the tax onto their customer base...you would have thought that, by now, CONgress would have figured out that most of us understand that fact of life...

Just a NOTE, here: These subsidies that we are speaking about, are NOT just a gift to BIG OIL. They are only available to those companies that are Drilling for NEW Production. If you don't drill, you do NOT get any MONEY, Period. They are incentives, to keep looking for more Recoverable Oil. It has nothing to do with Production, but everything to do with finding new sources of Product. Do you really want BIG Oil to stop looking for New sources? Is that what People REALLY Want.... Ask yourself That Question, every time you go buy some Petroleum Products. I know that is what Obummer wants, but then again, he is a Loonie Tune.... .... YMMV....

Because they say a company is taking a loss when their profits are down from the prior quarter.

The POS (pardon my abbreviation) isn't clueless; 0bama knows exactly what he is doing. 0bama is slowly making oil so expensive no one will be able to afford it.

The problem is 0bama lacks something to replace oil. All of 0bama's alternative sources yield nothing except make some of his "buddies" rich then go bankrupt.

After 0bama. books such as Clancy's Rainbow 6 no longer seem so far fetched anymore, do they?

When I say the Pretender is clueless, it's because his 'policies' aren't HIS ideas. He is a puppet for others 'behind the throne' who control him, make him do and say what they need to further their agenda, part of which is bringing America down from Top Dog position. As our entire society runs on oil, that is a very logical and easy target to hit. And the treehuggers LOVE the soundbites of 'clean energy' and 'efficient cars', 'smart homes', etc.....
High Tech sells, even when it doen't work.
obummer should have lost all credibility over the Solyndra Debacle, but he is still pushing elimination of American Oil and embracing pie-in-the-sky new tech that is unproven and not ready for market.
As a man once said, "Follow the MONEY!" That will lead us to those truly behind this mess. THEN we could do some much needed clean-up.......

    A great debating point. :D

There are two approaches. The first is the boxer's to the body and the head falls and the other is cut the snake's head off.

As I don't see the mega rich falling taking the head down; it seems take the snake's head in November is the wisest course..

Add pray America can last that long.
