I guess if you had to, you'd do a lot of things you wouldn't normally do.

    BUT....

...is just not appetizing...sulfur, ammonia....grubs would be more palatable.

Yeah, I would eat a lot of things before I ate that egg. The Chinese have some interesting ideas about culinary delicacies. I like Americanized Chinese food, but they can keep the traditional Chinese food.

    Green eggs and ham....

It reminds me of a time when I was a digger....our company who had a sergeant cook who, under normal circumstances wasn't a bad cook...unless he got pissed...then you could expect pretty ordinary fare....one night one of the blokes nicked the cook's boots while the cook was in bed pissed. The rogue laid a cable in each boot, and returned the boots under the cook's bed without the cook being any the wiser. Early next morning as he got up to start preparing breakfast, the sergeant went ballistic! You could hear him a mile away,,,"SOME BASTARD SHAT IN ME BOOTS!!!!

There wasn't anybody about who could hear the kerfuffle who couldn't keep a straight face, which only seemed to enrage the sergeant even more. Everyone thought the affair was a hoot....that was....until breakfast.

What would have been a very ordinary meal was rendered extraordinary... the cook had mixed blue food dye into every meal...blue porridge, blue bacon, blue eggs (boiled, scrambled or poached), blue bubble & Squeak, blue tomatoes, blue fried onions, and even blue milk to pour on the cornflakes or add to the tea or coffee....it was all edible...just very unappealing. No one was tempted to misuse the good sergeant cook's boots again..and if anyone was inclined to even contemplate it...they would have been beaten to death by their own mates. Goodness...where have 43 years gone?

I would never mess with anyone who is responsible for preparing my food. Playing in traffic would be safer. I always assume that person might be as evil a bastidge as myself.

My grandfather worked at Sparrows Point Shipyard almost his whole life, we were talking one day and he told me that as soon as a ship came in for repairs he would go make friends with the cook. the captin was had nothing to do with him, but a good cook made life a lot better

Cumshaw ALWAYS good. Never ceased to amaze me what a steak would "buy" in the yards.
