I noticed the US government is not happy when it loses its productive tax payers. There is supposedly a 10 year taxation period for anyone who renounces their citizenship from the US; however, the US.gov has never fully brought anyone to court over this. Do they really want the court to decide this one?

I find it funny that a left leaning persons determines it is better for their billions to be an inhabitant of the world versus the US. Good old Chuckey. Just can't seem to see that its the US tax system that is the problem, not the citizenship necessarily. If we followed the tax method used by the rest of the world (except for North Korea and a few other insignificant countries) taxation would be based upon residency not citizenship.

Currency controls and fear of losing tax payers is all part of the fear the .gov and bureaucrats have that the game is up. The did this in Rome.

Yeah.. I can't get out of this god forsaken state either. I'm stuck here.. so I might as well vote the sons of bitches out or wait til they die from natural causes... though a runaway bus would be welcomed to help expedite said natural cause.

Now wait a minute here..... It would seem the ONLY thing keeping folks in Place, is their OWN Choices... They want to leave, but do NOT want to have to PAY the COSTS of Leaving.... It is ALL about Personal Choices, NO ONE is going to hold a GUN to your Head to keep you from leaving the State.... You just choose to not Leave, because it will COST YOU, Time and Money to do so... so you CHOSE to Stay and deal with the Issues, and PAY what they require. You Chose, not them... Choices, Personal Choices... don't whine about the .Gov keeping you in place.... You Chose to Stay, OR You Chose to Leave, either way YOU Pay, for the consequences, of Your Choices. AS DO ALL the rest of US.... When we make Choices.... Whining about the consequences of Your Choices, just shows that you didn't do the Due Diligence, somewhere along the line, and now it is bitten you in the A**, and it hurts.... I mean Really..... .... YMMV....

This isn't whining. Actually, they hold a unlimited checkbook gun to your head. Few If you are not super wealthy, then you can afford to take the chance. The should not be an exit tax, just a final tax return for the portion of the year you were a resident of the united states.

The point is there is that this wouldn't be an issue if residency versus citizenship determined your taxation. Why is the government concerned? This is simply a currency control issue. Same reasons they implemented laws for capital controls for outflows that go into affect on January 1, 2013.

Saverin's choice apple has some worms in it. In Singapore, residency governs the tax rates he faces. If he screws up, his green card is lifted, and he has to leave if fairly short order (or even get caned.) As he is not going to retain his US citizenship, where does he go? The US has no obligation to re-admit him. There are countries that would love to have him for a bite at his wallet ---

Well it comes to the point of who realy owns ones wealth,,,,,, the gooberment who created all the bullshxx that makes it hard for one to succedd,,,,, or the individiaual who created the wealth and retains it in his name.

Comminust countries have exit taxes and soon we will also, as we are now comminusist.

And my originial how come 20 million illegals come here and rape our jobs social services and pay no taxes take all their money home, and all that is already illgal but happens every minute of every day.

    We already have taxes.

To be fair it should be a person's choice. If you pay taxes then you gets to use what tax money paid for; if you don't choose to pay then you don't get use.
Personally as my work is 20 miles on state or interstate highways which were built with state and federal funding, I am already stuck paying.
There is too much we need to use which was paid for with tax money to opt out.

I'd say a lot more than 20 million.

Actually some illegals do pay taxes. If they get some type of tax ID there is some stupid loop holes which allows them to get more, a lot more than they paid in. It figured didn't it.

Well arent YOU just the holder of answers. All high above us stupid asses.

Boy, I am such a dipshit for wanting to live near my family and where my company is. Of course if I dont like it, I have no right to complain, I have to pack up and move out.

I suppose you will probably be singing a different tune when the agenda hits YOUR doorstep but until then it is OUR problem.....right?
Does this mean you will no longer be complaining about the Federal Government and what they are doing? After all, you can leave the US if you have a problem with it.

    ....

    Of course, YMMV....

I think BT has it right ,I took my wife and family away from the rest of the family over 25 years ago so I wouldn't have to live the commie state of NJ . It ended up that most of the damn fools followed us because I was right and was the only one with the balls to hell out of there .
I did what was right for me and mine and to hell with the rest of them !! JMHO

That is such a myopic view, BT. Some of us choose to stay to change it for the better because it is our Country that we love, it is our Home that we love, and it is a place where people once actually died to preserve our Freedom, rather than guaranteeing Halliburton could build a few more Airports and Warehouses in places ran by brown skinned people that haven't taxed their GNP into dust.
To paraphrase a very dear friend of mine, "The Loaf of Freedom was not eaten in a single meal, but rather, one slice at a time". Does the butter-knife poised above the heel not give some indication that it is nearly gone or should we wait on just crumbs before we say something and do something about there being nothing left? Maybe you are right and Freedom isn't worth fighting for, maybe Liberty is archaic certainly not worth sacrifice of life, let alone personal wealth...If Soldiers stand up and fight for Liberty and Freedom, rather than slogans and platitudes, I will be right beside them, armed and standing. If I can raise the level of apathy to a slow boil, I will do so and fight to regain our Liberty and the Hobbits be damned.
