    But it's a bolt gun ---. That's different, eh?

Exactly. Common Ammo, common mag, but less parts to clean and being a bolt gun it "could" be more accurate.

It'd be awesome if there was a.308 common mag between AR platform and Bolt rifle .. Little more thump.

Then you've got a need for two sets of spare parts...sorry to be negative on it. I guess you could be the first on your block to have a bolt action with a 100 round beta mag.

I've been looking at getting one for my son. He is 12 this year and since he is a smaller frame he needs a smaller rifle for hunting season. I have looking into other .223 but the fact that this uses detachable mags is great. I don't ever plan to use a 30 rd mag in it but i have the option if ever needed for him to use the same mag as my AR to defend the property.

I could see someone doing that, LOL.

A 24" fluted medium/heavy contour barrel in 1:9 twist. Right there is the recipie I would rather throw out. For me, the appeal of this rifle would be for shooting 75-80 grain bullets subsonic through a suppressor. I would rather have: 16" med/heavy contour with a 1:7 twist.

The 24" fluted barrel would beg me to cut it down to 16" with a 5/8-24 threaded end, but the flutes would keep it from being a nice, clean assembly. I would lose the target crown but it wouldn't matter since the suppressor or flash hider would be on the end almoist all of the time.

The 1:9 twist rate is nice for someone that wants to shoot a variety of projectile weights. A 1:8 would be a decent choice, also. If I would only be using it for subsonic bullet flight, the 1:9 is not the best choice.

Rifle bullets are hard enough to get them to go subsonic, let alone to keep them stable. Add a slower twist rate and see what happens. That's why I went with a 1:8 rate in my go to carbine, I don't want to chance a baffle strike.

As for the detachable magazine, I wouldn't be able to use the magazine if I was loading the 80gr bullets. The OAL would be too long for them to fit in the magazine and would have to be individually hand fed. I would rather look into the 75 grain bullets and develop a load for them, since I know they will fit in the magazine.

If I didn't already have a Remington 700 set up in a similiar way (except in .308) I would probably look into one. The price isn't bad for the amount of features that come with it, and I like the look of the stock.
