But Iran only wants to use Nuclear materials for peaceful purposes. The Supreme Leader has said so, so it must be true. :D

That's the crux of the issue that I wish SOME leader would raise:

No one would begrudge a country for wanting to be able to defend itself, however, for most Islamic countries, having nuclear capabilities is just too much of a temptation. They can't be trusted with the ability to annihilate the world. The same is true of North Korea. Their value system does not comprehend mass extinction the same way most do.

here, "aggression" means existence. Basically, he means that we need nuclear weapons to wipe Israel and America from the map. It doesn't matter to us that the Wailing Wall will be destroyed or that the land will be un-inhabitable. We just hate the fact that you breath...and we want you dead.

I concur. About 4-5 should do the trick. One each for Mecca and Medina be adequate. Cheaper than dewatting them.

Guit-Maybe this is part of what the 450 million .40 and 150 million 5.56/.223 are for.

We're gonna give them some ammo too, a few rounds at a time, at high velocity.

I know DHS put in the req but only because anyone else would have been "obvious". ;)

....wouldn't do 'em any good. Anyone worth his beard over there shoots 7.62x39. Hell, I don't even know if they shoot pistols.

the .gov bought the .223 to raise prices and keep that ammo out of our basements.

I say we drop a few over there and make some glass parking lots, the world would be a safer place. Sometimes you have to break some eggs to make an omlette. Over there you have a lot of nuts- lets put the glowing nut cracker on them!!

Hell...then something's wrong. We've been shooting at them now going on 5 years (not including Iraq...that's 11) and we haven't seen any white flags. Given the amount of time we spent shooting at the enemy in WWII, in two different theatres...I'm beginning to wonder what the point is.

I'm not downplaying the soldiers' efforts by any means...but, if you're going to be in a war, the objective should be to win. Heck...does the media even know we're still at war? Does the Kenyan? It's all politics at this point and there are kids still dying. That's bs. We learned nothing from the failures of the French or of the Russians....and keep paying the bill with the lives of young patriots. [wannamesswitme]

Maybe they need to keep the action going a little longer to perfect their drones to use on the U.S. population.

Bureaucrats have no place in war. Give the military the go ahead and then SDSTFU. As far as the media goes, there is no place for them in a war zone either. If it's our guys who love the military, they make propaganda films for us. If it's guys that don't like the military, they blame us and give away information that the enemy will use against us. What we really need is a prez that has the balls, if he or she is gonna call a war, to let us fight as we need too and not micro-manage everything because the media will get involved and his approval rating will go down. Nothing worse than having your dog get after someone, while keeping his leash on.

While I totally agree with you, Vietnam was only the first in a string of conflicts that proved to the modern world that war has a crucial political component. It is simply a fact of life that will be with us from now on.

Conflicts are no longer won entirely on the battlefield. You either win the hearts and minds (of your own populace as well as civilians in the war zone) or you might as well hang it up.

Even the American Revolutionary War had an important political component. Paul Revere is usually remembered for his "ride", but his propaganda activities were far more important than anything he did astride a horse.

WWI brought propaganda to an art form, and WWII developed it even further.

Vietnam was when we started seeing the effect on a civilian populace of war being brought into their living rooms. The pendulum of information began to swing in the other direction. Information became a two-edged sword. Instead of governments being able to easily control the information reaching their citizens, as had been the case in the past; governments now had to deal with outside sources directly feeding information to their populace that might conflict with the party line.

Now, with the advent of the computer, digital cameras, and viral videos, an incident of a handful of Marines pissing on the corpse of their dead enemy, or a group of soldiers publicly abusing prisoners, can lose the entire war.

Churchill remarked of Admiral John Jellicoe, on the occasion of the battle of Jutland, that he was the "only man on either side who could lose the war in an afternoon." Today, the lowliest private may not be able to single - handedly win a war, but he can definitely lose one.

We may rightly decry politics in warfare, but it is here to stay. We can either get on board the train, or get run over by it.

Well for starters we need to stop being the boy scouts. Why handle problems for people who can't or won't handle them for themselves? We should just send the politicians into the ring to fight it out on live tv as the soldiers sit idly by and watch. There you go. Politicians want to be boss? Be boss if you can kick butt. The media is still messed up beyond repair. Some private takes a leak on a book, the savages get up in arms about it, the media portrays it as evil, the citizens agree because of their own stupidity, the politicians allow a soldier to be crucified for it, they then pull us from the country, the country continues to fight amongst themselves and blow up innocent people around the world and at home. That's the matter of having media involvement. Good times. Good times.

It could be but just because someone says something doesn't mean you should believe it, but I'm not cutting out the possibility but you know. We can barely believe anything OUR government says lol

Got plenty .223 in my stash. Range pickup and mail-ordered 'once-fired' brass, many good powders, lots of bullets and primers - so I can build my stash higheras needed...... [freedom]

I got local "Tactical' covered - leave it to the big Boys to cover 'Strategic'.
