Now that I know that California has banned this near perfect 45 ACP pistol I feel the need to support Springfield Armory.

Cali sees the need to have a magazine safety for all new pistols, how dumb for a great CHL weapon to be required to have such a device.

For sale in my area for $518 with the usual two mags and other accesories provided by Springfield.

I wouldn't go that far as perfect. Come on HK if it was perfect it would be stamped Glock (lol) Being an XD they probally ban it to protect by stander from being shot when the shooter was trying to keep it on the paper. Just teasing well for everything except the part about Glock perfection. We carried the XD's for a while and I could not adjust to them. I was shooting 10 points lower with it than my Glock. Finally got the Sheriff to go back to the Glock 21's

Hmm, might be your glasses that caused you to shoot so low, or at least that seems to be the case since you missed the ""near perfect 45 ACP"".

    LOL

The only perfect gun is the Colt Peacemaker.

I'm the opposite.. for years I carried and practiced with ole Hi Points so I am so damn accustomed to the higher bore axis I can't shoot a Glock nearly as well as my XDm.

Its a shame California has a "Roster of approved weapons" anyway, Glad I left the state for Nevada a few years ago.

I work part time in a gun shop, the owners are massive XD fans, we cant wait to get one of these in. I am a pretty hard core Glock guy myself, but even I would not mind one of these.

They look pretty awesome - I've been eyeing it since the ads started coming out a couple months ago. .45ACP is pretty nice, but I'll have to wait for the .40S&W since that's pretty much what I'm standardizing on (maybe I should change and add another caliber :^)

I have been waiting to get an XDS since the ads first came out also. It shall be magnificent.

Kommifornia is not the place to be --Hawaii, either.

I like how thin it is, but I just can't get over the grip safety. I learned a while back, during an IDPA match, that I gripped my 1911 insufficiently when fast drawing and point shooting at a target 3 feet away. I pulled the trigger and no bang.

After a whole bunch of thought into the matter, I sold all of my 1911's and bought Glock 21's. I never had a problem during a match, no matter how much of a hurry I was in.

Don't worry, I'm not trying to get anybody to sell their 1911's and buy Glocks- it's just what happened to me and why. I'll end my diatribe on that subject.

Anyway, the pistol looks a lot like the Walther PPS, but scaled up a bit for .45 ACP. I wish Walther would make the PPS in .45!

Yes the XD's are nice, but they do not have the track record of a Sig P226, and I know that they are expensive, but as a wise mechanic once said "when you buy quality, you only cry once".

The 226 is as close to perfection that you can get from the factory. The FBI, the Secrete Service, the U.S. Navy SEAL's have adopted and used this side arm going on thirty years.

P226 really isn't badly priced if you get someone with the credentials to buy it at LEO pricing. I paid $375 for mine from a cop I know who bout it at $450 and kept it in the box for a year.

Problem is, Sig 226 is not a small .45ACP and the XDs 45 is a conceal carry winner.

Now if Sig can produce the same size weapon then we'll talk.

While tired I once had the same problem. I first converted over to strap across the 1911's safety, worked fine never a problem.

Now I have installed the "speed" bump 1911 safety.

Works great and makes me legal for CHL test in my state.

    Test Fire Day

Picked up the XDs 45ACP Saturday.

Ran handloads, 230 cast lead, Federal 185 HP Match and some Gold Dot 230 HP through it early today.

No blips no problems at all.

POA and POI at 10 yards is spot on.

    Great little gun.
