Great idea! If the cops go on strike, does anyone think people in those areas will NOT go out and buy guns?

Bloomburg is only showing himself for the total idiot that he is. People who vote should demand this fool be removed from office for such a stupid viewpoint. What does this actually say to what he believes about protecting his residents. Libs like him are deaf dumb and blind to the actual world and facts that do not agree with their perverted fantasy world ideas.
    .
My apologies to anyone who happens to be blind, deaf, or dumb ...... my comments were not meant to denigrate you, but to point out that Bloomburg has to have many senses impared to not realize a truth that is so obvious to most peoples.

    Dear Mr. Bloomberg,

Before we turn in our weapons in the name of security, we should certainly turn in our ammunition at 2,250 ft./sec.

Someone surrounded by bodyguards all the time just doesn't get it...just like the people who lack a basic understanding of the meaning and intent of the provisions in the Constitution to protect people from the tyranny of govt. My guess is Bilderberg has read the document...but doesn't understand the ORIGINS of the document and why certain things were included. I 'spose a rich govt. wanker, who has no clue how people really live, has absolutely no awareness of what people have to fear of govt. Well, men who lived in a time where the .gov could execute you without cause knew and they did something about it.

These commie-pinko leftists think all of the major and minor ills of society can be solved by govt. in the form of laws and fed by taxes.

    The intent......

"The strongest reason for the people to retain the right to keep and bear arms is, as a last resort, to protect themselves against tyranny in government." -Thomas Jefferson

"Unless the people, through unified action, arise and take charge of their government, they will find that their government has taken charge of them. Independence and liberty will be gone, and the general public will find itself in a condition of servitude to an aggregation of organized and selfish interest." Calvin Coolidge

"Laws that forbid the carrying of arms. . . disarm only those who are neither inclined nor determined to commit crimes. . . Such laws make things worse for the assaulted and better for the assailants; they serve rather to encourage than to prevent homicides, for an unarmed man may be attacked with greater confidence than an armed man." Thomas Jefferson

"Who are the militia? Are they not ourselves? Is it feared, then, that we shall turn our arms each man against his own bosom? Congress shall have no power to disarm the militia. Their swords, and every other terrible implement of the soldier, are the birth-right of an American ... The unlimited power of the sword is not in the hands of either the federal or state governments, but where I trust in God it will ever remain, in the hands of the People." Tench Coxe (1788)

"Before a standing army can rule, the people must be disarmed; as they are in almost every kingdom in Europe. The supreme power in America cannot enforce unjust laws by the sword, because the whole body of the people are armed, and constitute a force superior to any band of regular troops that can be, on any pretense, raised in the United States." Noah Webster.

"If the representatives of the people betray their constituents, there is then no recourse left but in the exertion of that original right of self-defense which is paramount to all positive forms of government..." Alexander Hamilton.

"The Constitution shall never be construed...to prevent the people of the United States who are peaceable citizens from keeping their own arms." Alexander Hamilton.

"The best we can hope for concerning the people at large is that they be properly armed." Alexander Hamilton.

"Firearms stand next in importance to the Constitution itself. They are the American people's liberty teeth and keystone under independence... From the hour the Pilgrims landed, to the present day, events, occurrences, and tendencies prove that to ensure peace, security, and happiness, the rifle and pistol are equally indispensable...The very atmosphere of firearms everywhere restrains evil interference--they deserve a place of honor with all that's good." George Washington.

"To preserve liberty it is essential that the whole body of the people always possess arms and be taught alike, especially when young, how to use them..." Richard Henry Lee

"Guard with jealous attention the public liberty. Suspect every one who approaches that jewel. Unfortunately, nothing will preserve it but downright force. Whenever you give up that force, you are ruined.... The great object is that every man be armed." Patrick Henry

"[W]hen the resolution of enslaving America was formed in Great Britain, the British Parliament was advised by an artful man, - who was governor of Pennsylvania, to disarm the people; that it was the best and most effectual way to enslave them; but that they should not do it openly, but weaken them, and let them sink gradually, by totally disusing and neglecting the militia." George Mason, speech in the Virginia Ratifying Convention, 1788

"The right of the citizens to keep and bear arms has justly been considered as the palladium (safeguard) of the liberties of a republic; since it offers a strong moral check against usurpation and arbitrary power of rulers; and will generally, even if these are successful in the first instance, enable the people to resist and triumph over them." U.S. Supreme Court Justice Joseph Story, 1833

"If gun laws in fact worked, the sponsors of this type of legislation should have no difficulty drawing upon long lists of examples of crime rates reduced by such legislation. That they cannot do so after a century and a half of trying -- that they must sweep under the rug the southern attempts at gun control in the 1870-1910 period, the northeastern attempts in the 1920-1939 period, and the attempts at both Federal and State levels in 1965-1976 -- establishes the repeated, complete, and inevitable failure of gun laws to control serious crime." Senator Orrin G. Hatch (R-Utah)

Interesting, in Russia the police take responsibility for public safety.

In the US, well established case law says the police are not responsible.

    What a d!p$h!7...

hmmmm....illegal guns is his issue huh? Well, by the very definition, they are already illegal so it would be logical that adding more laws or banning ILLEGAL guns wouldn't do much good. So, problem solved.

Geez I hate when politician pull a fast on people by quoting some statistic that sounds good, but isn't even referring to the correct issue.

Well Mr. Mayor, all of my guns are legal...so, stay the f**k out of my business.

BS. You want to know how to destroy the NRA? Quit trying to pass laws that are un-Constitutional. Then, there wouldn't be a need.

I often consider the NRA to be the largest and oldest gun control organization in the country.

They have written most of the gun control laws.

What they should have done in 1934 was poured concrete and drawn the line in it, but they have compromised the Second Amendment away piecemeal.

If common sense were not so uncommon in DC then these conversations would not be forth coming. Since it is not our best deterrent is a well stocked "third box".

USA TODAY claims "gun owners side with the devil".

It's a free-for-all for the gun grabbers and their relentless pursuit to disarm free people should not be accepted or tolerated.
