Here's the link to the law. Rainwater Regulations and Statues

Note the 7. Rainwater: collection and use of rainwater from an artificial impervious surface (like a parking lot or a building’s roof).

    The catch is the containment.

In Washington, even snow is considered 'Waters of the State'. They don't even pretend by calling it Public water, it's .gov water.

Check with your State Natural Resources Dept.... They administer those Laws...

Thanks, laying down so just looked on my phone but couldn't really find anything on their site. But found this on another site http://www.harvesth2o.com/statues_regulations.shtml. And looks like GA is ok. I'll follow back up on the GA department of natural resources website again tomorrow to verify. Thanks for the reply

The eastern states usually do not have the water compacts or complex water rights laws that the western states do.

Wonder how long before you start getting arrested for breathing air without paying taxes for it...

They (Gov) went around 10 years ago, maybe a few more years and made everyone register all ponds, or water reservoirs. Funny thing was all of sudden there were many more then the week before LOL
So now you have to get a permit and DEQ approval.
Its a joke in these parts of Oregon.

Interesting that this would pop up on Snopes in 2015.

I begrudgingly yield to Caeser what is rightfully theirs but Almighty God creates the rain but in this inverted world I guess they'll tax anything that moves. In a SHTF situation I know what my response will be to an ex.gov person wanting a drink of my rainwater.

In many States, Rain Water is legal to collect, IF AND ONLY IF, it never touches the ground.... Once it touches the ground, it belongs to the State, OR Thr WaterRight Holder, for that Ground, which may NOT be the Property Owner.... So if you have Rain Barrel Collection, and then storage in Cisterns, and NOT Ponds, on your Property, likely the Water collected is yours.... To use as your Pleasure dictates...
