Just a couple of pictures from an old file.

Thinning down the Blond stock and staining it brown made a world of difference. MAK90 1.JPG MAK 90 Rifle 7.62 x 39 1.

    Thanks,

You can see that the stock is much thinner than the as made MAK and that I hade to use an epoxy filler on the poorly fitted wood. This did not show until the wood was removed 1/4 inch. I used only a body shop rasp and sand paper but I'm happy with the new feel. And the wood removal now allows a clean path for the trigger finger and changes the feel from that of a 4x4 to one of a near target grade gun. Only then can you know how smooth the trigger is on a MAK90.

The epoxy does fill the "pores" ;) Filling pores etc is about all I've done to my 91. As I had only put 50 rounds through it I can't say if accuracy improved. MAKs use a thicker 1.5mm sheet meta, double hooks and a "predicable" trigger; MAKs are one of the more accurate AKs.

    You did some excellent "re-fitting"

As those who sculpt say, "I just removed what didn't belong".
