I wanna remove the black finish. It looks nice, but I always prefer the silverish look. I tried paint stripper and nothing. Thanks in advance.

Wire brush and elbow grease unless you have a wire wheel driver. Bear in mind that the factory finish make for pretty good corrosion resistance.

Yea I get that but I only use the machete at home so I figured why not make it "custom". I try to bring very little in the woods with me so a machete is too big anyway.

I was a machinist for many years and we used deburring wheels on bench grinders to perform similar functions. I also used them when I was making knives to put a satin finish on the steel I was working. Looked on Amazon & they have what looks like a relatively inexpensive wheel called a "3M Scotch-Brite Roloc General Purpose Scuffing Wheel". I've never used that one, so I won't vouch for it. We used the more expensive wheels that run upwards of $50 each.

Thanks Jeff ill give that a look. The stripping definitely did not work and haven't had time to sand it down.

I just got a used machete, and it's kinda rusty and I'm not sure how to get the rust off without ruining the blade. Would a pot scrubber work?

I wouldn't be worried about the finish of the blade if it is already rusted. It's steel, just scrub off the rust and be sure to use some oil to coat it in. It may have developed a patina, so I would caution against using a grinder if you would like to keep this natural barrier for the steel.

What would you know? Our buddy Sticks has an article on this very subject...
