Wife has a .380 Bodyguard. The Ruger is a dead ringer for the Keltec .32 in the gun safe.None of these are range guns, they're made for short distance desperation shots,IMO.All easy to conceal, none worth much at long distance.Backup guns,I think.YMMV
Some of the "wallet" holsters are listed as AOW by the ATF... i had one for a High Standard .22 mag apparently because they look like a wallet they are illegal... I posted the regs here in an earlier post ... i'll try to link it... http://www.survivalmonkey.com/forum...away-give-away-wallet-another-great-idea.html
I finally got some quality time on the range with it. Three different brands of ammo, totally reliable with all three. BUT, it is harsh, and you better get it gripped right or your finger will get pinched behind the trigger and won't be able to finish the squeeze. Recoil is sharp, and will smack your trigger finger in the front of the trigger guard (no worries about reset, you can't stop it.) Accuracy at 50 feet isn't too awful good, but not expected to be due to the useless sights and awful long, stiff pull. All three of the ammo selections shot low, some 6 inches, again full credit to the "sights." The search is going to be reopened. Not completely happy with it in spite of the easy carry.
This may be of use to you ghrit I don't know if you want to sink any more money into that piece. http://www.laserlyte.com/products/ck-amf I would highly suggest checking out the Sig P238. I have the Colt Mustang II, but it's essentially the same gun. I think it's a little pricey compared to the S&W Bodyguard, but it is all metal.
The search is on temporary hold, have some priorities to put to sleeep. Now, were I to do it again with this lump, I would definitely got the laser sights. At least there is some adjustment that would haul the point of impact someplace closer to point of aim. I've no built in objection to that reference, G_N other than the usual personal complaint about batteries. I will have a closer look at it shortly.
A freind of mine who was visiting from Okla last week has this exact combination, and it was not detectable until pulled out of rear pocket.
Yea you cant see the thing at all in your pocket, even in jeans that take on the imprint over time, I was impressed it look just like a wallet until they ask for it...LOL
Had one of those back in the eighties and concealable it ain't.But it did surprise me how well it registered at pistol defence ranges considering four barrels drilled with no way to register them after manufacture.
This is a 15 Ft range weapon... Inside 15 Feet, it doesn't matter where the Aim Point is, as the weapon barrel is way to short to make much difference. It is a Point and Shoot, preferably at less that 10 ft... like the camera.... See it, shoot it.... and the best loading for such a weapon, will be some extremely FAST Powder like Bullseye, because once the Projectile leaves the Barrel, all the unburnt power is just wasted in Powder Flash....... .....
The LCP is a popular choice in the area where I live for many of the blue collar workers that want to carry but, do not want the intrusion of even a standard sub compact. I have heard good reviews and have handled them a few times but, never on a range or EDC setting. Point shooting was once a common shooting technique taught at police academy's. At a short distance it can be used with good results. Another option is to jut use the entire slide as a sight as you would in low light conditions. Good luck to you and stay safe. Improvise, Adapt, Modify, and Overcome. FTM/PTB
Following up on eval after 5 months of full time carry and occasional shooting. -Finish is wearing off from contact with the Fobus paddle and from cycling the slide. -Two of the assembly pins have drifted very slightly off of flush with the sides. EZ reset with a pin punch. -The dehorning feature is very good; there is no possibility of snagging anything. The problem is that the slide serrations are also on the smooth side. It takes a concerted grip to rack the slide. Very poor choice for arthritic wrists. -It is barely larger than a cell phone, and was mistaken twice for a phone in spite of the shape. -To re-emphasize, the grip has to be offset or your trigger finger pad will be caught behind the trigger and prevent full stroke. -To re-emphasize that the sights are awful, and hitting close to point of aim will not happen. Close range only or use lots of Kaintuck windage, even off the bench. -Hornady Critical Defense is the carry load, Tula hardball is practice. -The slide hold open is not getting any easier on my fingernails.
I'm glad you've posted these reviews. I had considered getting one, but from what I'm hearing, I think I'd best keep looking. Racking the slide on my SR9C is already a Herculean task. I don't need a smaller weapon with the same issue.
Just don't grab the Ruger when your phone rings and put it up to your head....somebody might have you committed. For those seeking alternatives, I highly recommend the Colt Mustang for a pocket gun. http://dailycaller.com/2012/06/01/gun-review-colt-mustang-pocketlite-380-acp/
Can you imagine the look on peoples faces in a very public place like a shopping mall...LOL that's going to leave a mark.
I hate those Fobus holsters. The Uncle Mike's kydex paddles aren't bad, but I much prefer leather. Milt Sparks IWB Versa Max II is a winner. I haven't found a paddle holster I like, and I have a few. The Safari Land isn't too bad but I just do no find paddles that comfortable.
