I looked into getting grasshopper solar to outfit my home in Burlington, Ontario with solar panels. They pay for all of the up front costs, and instead of you using them for power, they pay you a credit for whatever your house generates (obviously minus their own setup fee). Has anyone used them? I've sent them a couple of emails asking detailed questions and haven't heard back. That alone should tell me to stay away, but I would like to hear other people's opinions.
If feasible, I'd suggest owning your own equipment. I'm sure that an agreement like this one requires a straight grid tie system which may or may not meet your requirements for an off grid cabin solution.
A solar system with no battery bank is useless, don't fall for it. Just a way to keep you on "Big Grid"
Just about every "Promotion" that you encounter is just trying to "Sell You something", at more money than you can buy, yourself... If you want a Solar powered Backup Electrical System, this is the place to learn about the Technology, from Folks that have "Real World Experience" in Designing, Owning and Operating such Systems. Just ask your Questions here, and get REAL Answers, instead of "Sales Droid" responses...... ...... YMMV...
Agreed! It's one of the best things about being a Monkey - you have the rest of the Monkeys who are willing to share their knowledge with you!!
