I just finished this book and highly recommend it. I put it in the same genre as Light's Out, but it doesn't have all the detail that LO had nor was it written from the perspective of a survivalist. If you've read LO, you know it's a real page-turner. This book was too. I read the whole thing over the weekend on my iPhone (Kindle app). Reading a book on my iPhone is not something I like to do, but, the book was so good, I read a few pages any chance I could just to see what happened next.

The basics of the book are: the main character lives in MT, but is in TX for business. A EMP gets detonated by some muzzies so, he spends 77 days walking from TX back to MT. The viewpoint is split between himself and that of his wife, who is back in MT taking care of their 3 kids.

The book was not written from a survivalist perspective, so, you'll see a lot of mistakes the guy makes along the way (e.g., not filtering/heating water, not having bolt cutters in his cart, being too trusting), but, most sheeple wouldn't know about this stuff anyway.

In my mind, most everything that happened in the book was a plausible situation that you can question yourself on how you would handle the same.

Very good read...and for the price of a used paperback...

Meh, was OK I thought. I posted a review about it on here as well. Was no way close to Lights Out in my opinion.

Of course not...but, if you are holding out for LO or better, you must not enjoy reading much because you are certainly limiting your selection to a very small group.

Not holding out for anything, just drawing a point since the op brought it up.

I didn't say 77 Days was as good as LO, nor did I compare the two (although they both have to do with an EMP). Perhaps that was the confusion.

I just stated that both were "page-turners." I would also say the story of the bin laden raid (No Easy Day) was a real page-turner.
