But we need Texas and Louisiana! Here's a thought, how 'bout we let California go instead?

I am reading a very interesting book right now "Bye, Bye Miss American Empire". Very thought provoking. The spin doctors have succeeded in convincing the masses that secession is tantamount to treason and that the issue was settled by the civil war. Not true in any sense. The founders made it quite clear that the right of a state to withdraw from the union was a safeguard against tyranny. It is a constitutional right and a patriotic duty to withdraw from a corrupted and irreparable cause. The American experiment is coming to a close and all that we can hope for is for patriots to take a stand and salvage what can be salvaged from the wreckage.
I have long believed that the US was destined to break up into countries within a country, as it should be, as was envisioned by our founding fathers. When you have such diametrically opposed populaces as the heartland and the left and right coasts. Populaces that wield enough power to elect a president that is completely opposed by the entire heartland, the "fly over" states. Thus relegating them to insignificance, then you have set the stage for a dramatic restructuring of this once great nation. A nation is made up of like minded individuals. We have ceased to be a "nation" for a long time. What the next step will be, and how much of a price will be paid for it remains to be seen. We are Rome and the end is near.

Agreed and if nothing else happens I am hoping for the State Of Jefferson here in Oregon. N Cal needs to break away for the remainder of the state and Oregon only has Ashland and the NW part of the state that needs to go (not Colt and Tracy).

MM, "American experiment" hits the nail on the head. It's been quite a while, but I've said before that the US is the greatest social experiment in the history of mankind. I suppose "greatest" is a matter of definition, but I digress...

Is succession tantamount to treason? I'm sure King George thought it was. History, my friends, is written by the victors. Had the American Revolution failed, it would be known today as the American Rebellion. Had the South won the Civil War, (or War of Northern Aggression if you prefer) it would be known today as the Confederate Revolution.

The author of the book I am reading reports on a conference held in 2006 in Burlington, Vermont. It is was as he says "the first ever nationwide conference of those who wish to make the nation a little less wide". There were delegates from all over the US. Left and Right didn't matter. 43 delegates from 18 states. "I saw ponytails and suits, turtlenecks and sneakers, an Alaskan gold miner and a delegate from the neo-Confederate League of the South wearing a gray great coat". The Puerto Rican and Hawaiian independence parties were represented as well as Mexican American delegations from the Southwest. "This isn't about left and right" remarked one New Hampshire delegate. "Peaceful hippies, whimsically radical Vermonters, and anti-corporate leftists broke bread with Southern Christians and men wearing Confederate flag lapel pins, and the skies didn't darken, nor the earth crack." Mentioned side by side as heroes were the likes of Saul Alinsky and Robert E. Lee, Thomas Jefferson and Martin Luther King.

Quite a gathering. So when a movement, albeit small one to date, can gather such diverse people under one united banner then there is hope. In the authors words "" In it's latest incarnation, secession has something of a greenish cast. It was made in Vermont, and if it has not yet proven as exportable as, say, Vermont Teddy Bears or Cherry Garcia, well, give it time."

"Secessionists-most of them,anyway-are all too aware that what they seek (the dissolution of the mightiest empire on the planet Earth) borders on the inconceivable. But they have made peace with its implausibility and have moved on. Taking up arms is madness. Rebellion and revolution are useless. You would be crushed. If you want out of a bloated empire and dehumanizing system, secession is the path."

It will be interesting to see if this movement gains momentum.

I've met many times before, with many good friends of various backgrounds, in conference of those who wish to make their girlfriends a little less wide - but somehow I don't think those delegations carried the same weight... (hehehehe, get it?) ;)

Today, we have corporate media who will not advertise a secession in any positive light --if at all. This means that for any progress to be made and for a secession to actually take place, the people will need to FIRST communicate about it constantly on public access channels and encourage assemblies to promote a secession. Even with the required number of petitions for the "President" to even respond to a proposed secession, nothing is saying the corrupt secret government would even respond at all. No, the days of declarations need once again be established --and free our people from the clutches of private banks.

The states need to rally their citizens, keep them actively informed and stick to their guns. Without communication and a means to defend their liberty, this whole secession movement is doomed from the start in the modern age.

I'm all for it, but perhaps someone with more knowledge on the subject than myself can break it down in SIMPLE terms reasons WHY a succession would be a good idea. A fact sheet of some sort. I am currently surrounded by liberals that laughed at me and gave me crazy eyes when I mentioned the subject .. ........ These guys are mostly from Cali.lol

Well, it's just a petition that zero or his minions may respond to. Basically the site is just to let people vent and blow off some steam and make it seem like the gooberment is responsive to complaints of its slaves citizens. Great ploy.

Nothing to bind the gov't. just that they may respond. bwahahahahaha

They get to find out what's bugging the slaves population, prepare a non response, pretend like they care, make sure that they don't let it get out of hand (like letting TX and LA take their oil, land and sea ports and go private) by setting up a DHS ERT command post in the towns of the complainants.

For a state to secede from the union, they don't petition the white house. They need to work within the state.
One might want to review Secession: Here Is How To Secede From The Union « DumpDC on a methodology might work.

But don't worry, the tyrants in DC won't go along with it willingly.
Actually there's bound to be some increased TSA / DHS activity in their state due to it.

Only those states and ALL of it's citizens need to stand fast against the tyrants. Otherwise, it's status quo. Sorry. but until the sheeple figure out that DC is just bribing them with their own money, oh wait, nevermind. It's NEVER gonna happen. Carry on.

Now everyone is making petitions, dividing votes and creating anger from the clones who believe it is "Unamerican" to even dare to secede from a tyrannous government. There's even petitions to deport those who petition for their state to secede. It's doomed from the start, like I said.

    Quagmire.

Only thing that is going to happen is that the 'Transparent Gov't' that put up this petition site is going to take it down citing abuse by the rabble rousers also know as 'Sovereign Citizens' or Militia Members or preppers.

They will all go on a list, a very special list.
