I think there would be a massive revolt and I doubt that Illinois has enough prisons to house every gun owner who will be prosecuted for failing to turn in their firearms. The majority of the gun owners in America are not sheep.
That is why they have privatized the prison system FOR PROFIT. The more prisoners they obtain, the more profit they make.

This is FACT, What makes this Yahoo think they wouldn't do the same thing with such a NEW Ban.... Close. What I've heard is it IS un-Constitutional NOW, and they have been given 180 to write a statute that governs CCW's. If they fail to get the statute passed, it's open season on CCW's. Those hunters I know from there, believe it will be the most restrictive rules possible, with the most hoops to jump through, but they will have some form of CCW soon. It sickens me greatly when politics tries to slide through on the blood of tragedy. To use a tide of fear, to make decisions, when people are grieving, when they are operating on emotion, not logic. They are not really thinking, they are reacting, and over reacting.

Cullerton hopes to ramrod the bill through and get it to Governor Quinn for signature by Friday. If he is successful at doing so, nearly every gun you currently own will be banned and will be subject to confiscation by the Illinois State Police . . . “Based on what we know about Cullerton’s bill, firearms that would be banned include all semiautomatic rifles, pistols, and shotguns. Pump action shotguns would be banned as well. This would be a very comprehensive ban that would include not only so-called ‘assault weapons’ but also such classics as M1 Garands and 1911-based pistols. The Appeals Court Order is "on Hold" (Stayed) for the 180 day period, and if the State can't write and pass a Statute into Law, the Stay will be lifted, and the Staute that stands NOW, will then become UnConstitutional and have NO FORCE IN LAW. Any NEW Statute would be immediately challenged in Federal District Court, and if it doesn't pass Constitutional Muster, it would be thrown Out as well, and any Federal District Judge that ruled in favor of the State would be immediately Appealed to this SAME Appeals Court, and those Guys would NOT be very sympathetic to any UnConstiutional Statue that is MORE RESTRICTIVE than the one they just RULED On. They will NOT be very happy, and could just rule in Summary Judgement against any Statute that doesn't pass FEDERAL Muster considering Heller, and the Chicago Case that has been adjudicated already by SCOTUS... The same is and will be true of ANY Feistein Bill that could come down the Pike.... It MUST PASS Federal Constitutional Muster.... And most Appeals will need to be in line with those two SCOTUS Rulings.....

High-capacity ammunition magazines would be restricted. Quinn said he is very pleased the Public Health Committee took the step. "There is no place in Illinois for weapons designed to rapidly fire at human targets at close range," he said. In a statement, Emanuel said in order to protect children, families and communities, there is a need for "common-sense laws that provide the residents of our cities with the safety they deserve." Gun rights groups, however, said the measures go too far and amount to an assault-weapons ban "on steroids." Democrats are seeking restrictions in the wake of the school massacre in Connecticut last month and mass shootings in Wisconsin and Colorado last year. While the measures were approved by the committee, supporters will have a tougher sell in the full Senate, where downstate Democrats as well as Republicans are more pro-gun. One measure would ban the possession, delivery, sale and transfer of semiautomatic handguns and rifles. People who currently own such weapons could keep them but would have to register them.
