Today, the POTUS is going to stand in front of a bunch of children and use XO to curtail your liberty. He will do this standing in front of a bunch of kids and claim that these measures are "for the children."

    Keep this in mind:

"The State must declare the child to be the most precious treasure of the people. As long as the government is perceived as working for the benefit of the children, the people will happily endure almost any curtailment of liberty and almost any deprivation." — Adolf Hitler, Mein Kampf

Has anyone seen "the Beast" that Lord O rides in. The doors are 8 inches thick. Glass 5 inches. Only one window opens at all.

I liked your Quote. Please note Other tyrants have used children and foriegners as human shields as well.

I've seen the beast, I think it would sink like a rock if a bridge were to give way under it. Expensive coffin!

    Here they are:
Read President Obama's New, Proposed Executive Orders and Legislation on Guns

    1. Issue a Presidential Memorandum to require federal agencies to make relevant data available to the federal background check system.
    2. Address unnecessary legal barriers, particularly relating to the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act, that may prevent states from making information available to the background check system.
    3. Improve incentives for states to share information with the background check system.
    4. Direct the Attorney General to review categories of individuals prohibited from having a gun to make sure dangerous people are not slipping through the cracks.
    5. Propose rulemaking to give law enforcement the ability to run a full background check on an individual before returning a seized gun.
    6. Publish a letter from ATF to federally licensed gun dealers providing guidance on how to run background checks for private sellers.
    7. Launch a national safe and responsible gun ownership campaign.
    8. Review safety standards for gun locks and gun safes (Consumer Product Safety Commission).
    9. Issue a Presidential Memorandum to require federal law enforcement to trace guns recovered in criminal investigations.
    10. Release a DOJ report analyzing information on lost and stolen guns and make it widely available to law enforcement.
    11. Nominate an ATF director.
    12. Provide law enforcement, first responders, and school officials with proper training for active shooter situations.
    13. Maximize enforcement efforts to prevent gun violence and prosecute gun crime.
    14. Issue a Presidential Memorandum directing the Centers for Disease Control to research the causes and prevention of gun violence.
    15. Direct the Attorney General to issue a report on the availability and most effective use of new gun safety technologies and challenge the private sector to develop innovative technologies
    16. Clarify that the Affordable Care Act does not prohibit doctors asking their patients about guns in their homes.
    17. Release a letter to health care providers clarifying that no federal law prohibits them from reporting threats of violence to law enforcement authorities.
    18. Provide incentives for schools to hire school resource officers.
    19. Develop model emergency response plans for schools, houses of worship and institutions of higher education.
    20. Release a letter to state health officials clarifying the scope of mental health services that Medicaid plans must cover.
    21. Finalize regulations clarifying essential health benefits and parity requirements within ACA exchanges.
    22. Commit to finalizing mental health parity regulations.
    23. Launch a national dialogue led by Secretaries Sebelius and Duncan on mental health.

And these are the legislative ideas -- i.e., the ones the president wants to push through Congress, starting with the more pliable Senate.

Require criminal background checks for all gun sales. (a.k.a. closing the "gun show loophole.")
Reinstate and strengthen the assault weapons ban.
Restore the 10-round limit on ammunition magazines.
Protect police by finishing the job of getting rid of armor-piercing bullets.
Give law enforcement additional tools to prevent and prosecute gun crime.
End the freeze on gun violence research.
Make our schools safer with more school resource officers and school counselors, safer climates, and better emergency response plans.
Help ensure that young people get the mental health treatment they need.
Ensure health insurance plans cover mental health benefits.

What the heck is #14 supposed to accomplish?? I'll save them money: "Some people are evil scumbags."

For the "give law enforcement additional tools" one--we already see it, but soon there will be no difference between the military and the LEOs. Somehow, it seems that if state LEOs behave just like the military and enforce FEDERAL law (over state law), this is violation of the Posse Comitatus Act.

So what is the new ban? Besides 10 round mags. Is this finished or still trying to get passed?

No 8 is the only one I don't really have a issue with. (as long as keeping guns in a safe is not a requirement)

Guns can be wicked expensive. A good safe is a wise investment.

Repeatedly burying my guns in the backyard and digging them up every time I want to use one gets problematic after a while.

Most likely its Fienstein's wish list. Congressional approval required. Executive actions are not the law of the land.

Somehow he's scheming to figure a way to get doctors/Obamacare involved in deciding whether or not you can have a gun I think.

I have to get a doctor's sign-off before I can get a pilot's license, why not for a gun? Very leery.......especially since the Constitution doesn't say "shall not be infringed, that is, of course provided the person first see's a doctor to make sure said inalienable right fits with person's mental condition."

I wonder if they'll run cops through the same ringer for mental normalcy if they try these shenanigans??

10 rnd mags aren't banned yet. That's what he wants to go through Congress. I'm not seeing anything in the above that directly affects anything, but, I'm sure there are indirect effects.

In N.J. We can only have 15round mags. So I can just buy new plugs to do 10 rounds. That's not that bad. Any other things on an ar-15?

Bet on it, it's a sure thing, except there's laws on the book to prevent this from happening.

The whole doctor - paitient confidentially thing.

Cops'll be exempt. Laws are for us not them !

Well, my fellow frogs, isn't the water in this pot nice? Could be a bit warmer, tho, don't you think?

    The burner's on, folks.

Also, seems to me he's deferred the "hard" rules and laws to Congress. Hopefully, they'll wimp out and not pass anything substantive. Then O can say "See, I left it up to Congress and they didn't do anything. Not my fault." And then a reference to how it's all Bush's fault! LOL

So now we know about these concrete proposals. Looks to me like the concrete isn't very well mixed.

Executive orders are arbitrary to the Constitution, as wartime powers are meant to be relinquished and not eternal. Congress is not a platform to "skip" in matters of urgency. The quote from Hitler in the first post of this thread says it all.

Like I said before, all the big dogs are ready for this --I just don't see a massive ban happening, not without one hell of a fight. Some states will try to duplicate these draconian measures, though.

Executive Orders, in the normal course of events, are just like orders by any CEO of any corporation to underlings. As such, he can tell his departments to do what he wants. I have no problem with that. Where he will run afoul of me and anyone else that believes in the Constitution is when he orders something contrary to that document and all it's amendments, or to violate a law already on the books as authorized by the other 534 public paid jerks in DC.

War powers, well, seems to me they apply only in declared war. Ain't so sure we have one of them these days. Guess I need to do some research. Anyway, Congress has to OK those as well, effectively done when war is declared.
