Now that my house has finally gotten comfortable, it’s time to upgrade my inverter to run stuff like refrigerator, microwave, stereo system, computer, household appliances, air compressor etc. I want something with hardwire terminals. Over the years of researching it, I’ve always heard that I should get pure sine wave but I’ve heard form some that modified sine wave is good enough if the wattage is high enough. My house: Home Off The Grid So now I want to hear form some folks who have actually been living off grid for some years. How much wattage, pure or modified, what brands etc? Any suggestions?
Read my Profile... I have been living Off-Grid, out here in the Alaskan Bush for over 2 decades.... What do you want to know.... a Private "Conversation" can be had, just for asking....
Dumb as I am about forums, I tried to look at your profile and got this: Read more: Error Follow us: @Survivalmonkey on Twitter | Survivalmonkey on Facebook Survivalmonkey Forums | Survival - Preparedness - Gear - SHTF - Error This member limits who may view their full profile. So now what?
JMD, you need a few more posts before access to all public member data is permitted. This is to ensure there's a real person out there, and not a bot looking for something to corrupt. We currently have it set to 5 posts. Once you get to that level, more things can be seen/accessed. As of this time, you show as only two posts.
Some people limit their profile views from casual viewing. BTPost may have his set this way. Yes, he limits to 'Members Only', you may have still been waiting approval as a member?
Ah, Ok, that solves the Mystery... Sorry about that... @jmdraft when you get to 5 Posts, you will be able to read myInformation on my Profile Page....
He should be able to see it now. We don't have a 5 post minimum anymore: He's either a registered member or not.
I checked on that, Membership Status, when first answering his original Post... He is a Newbie as of this morning....
Ok, I read your profile. As an old poot to an old fart, it sounds like you’ve been off grid long enough to have learned a few things the way I’ve learned most of everything I know………….by doing it wrong at least once. I have a PhD in screw up. So what I’m looking for is stuff about inverters form folks who have messed with them long enough to have some experienced ideas about them………..as opposed to just trying to sell them. I want hard wire terminals so I can hook it up directly to my house. I want to run stuff like what I put in my first post and I’ trying to decide on pure sine wave or modified. I also need some ideas abut how much wattage, brands, where to buy them etc. As for my profile, it’s on my website. The Geriatric Gourmet The house part is here: Home Off The Grid
@jmdraft, Ok, Here is what I have learned in 2 decades of living Off-Grid, with an Inverter/Battery System, and a few other building Ideas..... Blogs (Survival Monkey Forums) If after reading this, you have MORE questions, I am usually around....
Thanks, Our local stone cutter is a friend and he already cut my tombstone. It’s sitting up the hill behind my house. It says: John Gordon Martin Jan 16, 1943 Too Much to Do; Not Enough Time So maybe this is more to the point. What kind of inverter do you have?
I run a Trace SW4024, a Trace SW4048. And Trace SB3624.... All purchased BEFORE the Trace Engineering Staff, ALL walked out the back door, down the street, and started OutBack Power Systems..... If I was in the market Today, it would be OutBack Power stuff, Hands Down....
You are entirely Welcome.... Let me know if I can answer any further questions.... Hoped you liked the Blog....
Goggle is your friend, for that.... Just google Outback Power Systems.... All their Doc's are online in .PDF format...
