Alabama school bus shooting suspect holed up in bunker: police - Yahoo! News

Does this look like police to you, or more like military?

I am beginning to think we may need to make one thread for all these lunatics. Of course, the term is sometimes subjective...who knows if the day will come when revolution may occur, even in sporadic instances and every act will be viewed the same. Something to think about.

"An organization that tracks hate groups," now isn't that something? Pay attention, folks.

I wasn't asking a question, it was rhetorical with the implied notion that the police dress, are armed like military and behave like the military, thus we actually have an occupational military force in the guise of police in this country. Many police are prior service, and just look at the special teams and capabilities of the police. The American people have been groomed to trust their vets (and rightfully so for the most part) for so long, that we now have an Orwellian nightmare.

    Obviously they are police. o_O

I got a good laugh a minute ago, Reuters had video of the sheriff on the situation from just a few hours ago, saying they were not ready to release the name of the suspect, but Yahoo had an article from even earlier with the loony's name and age.

And, would someone enlighten me as to what that long black thing is that the one on the right is carrying? We have bets here, need to see who's paying up.

sorry Broker, I answered in haste. My rhetorical meter is busted at the moment.Yes you are correct with the militarization of our police forces.Unfortunately people think this IS in their best interest. From the looks of their plate carriers they are state police swat , so natuarally they will have ALL the high tech gear. I for one am not impressed by the pic...they look unorganized, sloppy and carefree.

Well I'll be honest with y'all, as someone with no clue who wears what, they look like military to me. I imagine to most people they would as well. I'm used to SWAT wearing black.

Not to mention, for those who may not know --one is wearing his helmet over his boonie cap and unfastened. All of them have turtle shells (no covers on helmets), some have pants unbloused, at least one has non-issued/non-regulation boots, I can see only one, maybe two with eye-pro. Then there's the shield, the bags, and poor readiness. Only one has knee pads. Yeah, obviously not military...but at least two were prior service.

I was hoping we could talk about the fact that they are armed like military though.

Very true, Visu.... The tactics these guys are using, makes them totally vulnerable to ANY Mil Trained Operator... This stuff works for Sheep, but not nessesarily for exMil SheepDogs, who know how to setup a Kill Zone, and all their fancy Cop Equipment isn't going to do them a lot of good. Think Rambo vs the County Sheriff... The first Responders need to be much more vigilant, about approaching the scene. There is no GIANT reason to hurry, they have the area contained, and it needs to be secured, by careful, and methodical Inspection. .....

Not just a Mil Trained operator, Granted a true operator would make short work of it. These boys look simply relaxed like they came back from a training exercise. Lil' ol' farmboy like me would also be able to open a can 'o whoop ass on 'em. Operator might not leave any to tell the tale and it would be left to the investigators to try and piece it together.

My concern about this image is, Yes they are up armed just like our military, but why does this look like a training exercise when this was suppose to be a holed up 'vet?

i guess all viet nam vets who suffer from some sort of ptsd will be labelled as terrorist now--some ptsd people only suffer night mares and other minor affects of being in a war

Standoff drags into third day as man holds boy in underground bunker - CNN.com

"His friends and his neighbors stated that he did not trust the government, that he was a Vietnam vet, and that he had PTSD," Byrd told the civil rights group. "He was standoffish, didn't socialize or have any contact with anybody. He was a survivalist type."

This is gonna be the one that's an NRA member. The only one out of however many psycho murders there have been over the years, but they'll hold him up as an example of all of us.

Someone get me to Georgia. I'll drag that a-hole out of his friggin tornado shelter and beat him to death myself.
