Item 17 sounds interesting for OPSEC. But also kind of curious especially given the FCC requirement that amateur band transmissions be free of secret codes etc. I presume one just may not use that feature when in the ham bands (assuming it means what it sounds like it means). Any idea how it works (both functionally and quality wise)?? Does anyone know if the Wouxun/TYT hand held units have a similar and compatible feature?

The scrambling function uses voice inversion some call it Donald Duck. Open ended like the old analog sync suppression video scrambling that was defeated very easily as is voice inversion. And as you noted illegal on the ham bands.

To the best of my knowledge no, none of the Wouxun handhelds have the scrambling feature. I have a KG-UVD1P (which is the first of the handheld line and the base that all of Wouxun HTs are built on with very little and in some cases zero internal difference) and it doesn't/isn't capable of that.

The Question IS, do these two units have Compatable Scrambling Capabilities???

I have a Puxing and Wouxun with the scramble function and they did not seem to be comparable with each other but I did not do extensive testing.
