What is wrong with this picture? : General Conspiracies

The picture is of the five nuclear carriers... Just like Battleship Row, Pearl Harbor, December 7, 1941.

This picture was taken the other day in Norfolk. The Obama Administration ordered 5 nuclear carriers into harbor for "routine" (?) inspections. Heads of the Navy were flabbergasted by the directive.
NORFOLK, VA. (February 8, 2013). The first time since WWII that five U.S. aircraft carriers were docked together.
USS Dwight D. Eisenhower (CVN 69), USS George H.W. Bush (CVN 77), USS Enterprise (CVN 65), USS Harry S. Truman (CVN 75), and USS Abraham Lincoln (CVN 72) are all in port at Naval Station Norfolk, Va., the world’s largest naval station.

Sources stated that this breached a long standing military protocol in the Navy meant to avoid massive enemy strike on major US forces. (U.S. Navy photo by Chief Mass Communication Specialist Ryan J. Courtade/Released)

Watch out America... Idiots and Traitors are in charge!

That is one of the highest levels of military incompetence I've ever seen. The only thing worse would be to line them up stem to stern so a single strafing run could hit them all. (And they have no defensive aircraft aboard, I'll bet. Usually the air wings are sent off before entering the yards for maintenance.)

POTUS he may be, but CinC he will never be.

Well...they wouldn't do much good at the pier anyway...it's not like they can take off from a stationary carrier..

I don't want to take that to the bank. Think Harrier. (Forgot them myself until just now.)

That said, aiming the catapults over an occupied area seems, ah, like a problem. Not to mention the power needed for launch just about requires the reactors to be up and running.

NAS Oceana and Langly AFB are a less than stones throw away, air cover is not an issue in Hampton Roads.

Threats however, do not only come from the air.

Wasn't the word that some carriers couldn't refuel due to budget cuts?

Refueling of one nuc is on hold pending the sequester.

11 me thinks you might not have all the info on fleet quantities and it is a fairly common for ships that have been out to sea for a few years to off load "spent fuel rods" and general refit which can not happen at sea or in foreign ports of call. just sayin

Not to start an argument but I have been in 3 branches of the DoD and when it comes to #'s of nuclear items I know for a solid fact when, where, and how many there "are" and how many they "Claim" there are. To think that they will tell force numbers to Forbes when they dont even tell congress and the white house is a far cry from dumb.

I don't think we're talking about the same thing. Nuclear arms and nuclear powered aircraft carriers are two different things. The location of carriers in general terms are not a closely held secret. They make public notifications of port calls... Wives gotta know.

I remember being TDY in Hawaii for a couple weeks without much to do. I read on the Internet that Reagan was going to come to Pearl the next day at 1400. Sure enough, we went down to Manama beach and watched here come in and render honors to Arizona. We went to the quarterdeck and got a tour the day after she arrived.

I know more than most where we have forces and equipment around the world due to the nature of my last few jobs, but I'm not going there on the forum obviously. Carriers on the other hand are pretty easy to keep track of.

[gasmask] Well this dummy knows they track allll fissal material the same weather they are weapons or spent fuel rods from nuclear anything a weapon by any other name is still a weapon. Just so you all know they will not tell you all there is to know because they would loose there clearence and be jailed or worse yet.. So you can Think what you like and listen to the disinformation they spew . But get better educated before you end up battling yourself out of a wet paper bag.

Wow this went argumentative really fast.

Again, we're not talking about the same thing. I'm talking about 100,000 tons of steel, not their fuel. I don't care where their fuel, spent or otherwise is. The point of the thread is about having so many carriers in one spot at a certain time. I simply posted some information about where the physical vessels are, and some reasoning behind it.

No worries, my feathers aren't ruffled. I won't dismiss your info, I learned something new. I just wanted to make sure we were on the same page so as to be clear about our statements.

    Cheers
