More than 100 officers. My word, who was protecting the rest of Washington? Overkill is an understatement!
We have had several high profile cop killing's up here in the last few years and when one is shot, they don't play around and just come with overwhelming response... Hoquiam has a small force so they probably put a call out for all hands on deck...
I saw a lit up convoy once when a cop here was shot. It was something. The response was swift and no bad guys got out alive.
When a perp has already fired on and wounded LEOs, then Holds up for the night, and in the morning, a Fire Magically breaks out in the Back of the house, the perp then comes out the front Armed, and is NOT surrendering, just what do you expect the LEOs to do, when he engaged them with GunFire.... This idiot got what he wanted. Suicide by Cop.... Going out in. blaze of Gory, and I do mean Gory.... I will be interesting if to see what our Monkey LOEs have to say on the subject ....
JEEZUS people. I was making light of the mix of a killers, cops, and fires and said "they pulled a Dorner." I wasn't dumping on the WA cops by equating them with L.A. cops because the only crew worse than L.A. cops are Chicago cops. Saved the tax payers some money . . . probably.
Definitely saved on some tax dollars- knew exactly what you meant with the Dorner ref- good post, as I had not really heard much of the story in my back yard. Just adding context to the response
In reference to my above post about L.A. and Chicago--add New York City: Chicago, Los Angeles, New York Prosecuted Fewest Federal Gun Crimes - Washington Whispers (usnews.com) High crime in the form of shootings, yet, very restrictive for people to own/carry firearms and the #1, #2, & #3 LEO agencies in terms of # of officers. What do you get out of that equation in conjunction with the article.
I think this guys fate was sealed when he shot the cop. No way, no how was he going to stand trial. He knew it, they knew it. Does it take 100 officers to handle a stand off & a burn him out scenario, I don't think so but then what do I know. I am not dumping on the WA cops either. The response is the same all over the country, if a cop is shot then the response is overwhelming, fast & furious. Yeah, thye burned him out, it saving on ammo!
