    Your tax at work!

WOW !!! Check out this MAP, the beginning of the end.....

These 11 States now have More People on Welfare than they do Employed!
Last month, the Senate Budget Committee reports that in fiscal year 2011, between food stamps, housing support, child care, Medicaid and other benefits, the average U.S. household below the poverty line received $168.00 a day in government support.

What's the problem with that much support? Well, the median household income in America is just over $50,000, which averages out to $137.13 a day. To put it another way, being on welfare now pays the equivalent of $30.00 an hour for a 40-hour week, while the average job pays $25.00 an hour.

And that is just the Welfare map, does that include folks on Disability? If not, what happens to the map when you add all of the disability receiptients into that count- bet it is half the country. It is just a [nutkick] to the working men and women of this land.

But the thing is the takers don't care because they think this country owes them something. They think all of us that work got where we are today because we were all born with silver spoons inour mouths. What a crock. I busted butt for everything i have in this world.

This thread is my answer to the question, "Why do you prep?" Anyone that doesn't realize that this sort of deficit spending will end in utter ruin and devastation for our economy just isn't awake. And what these sort of programs are doing to the character of the nation is even worse than the economic ruin. We are raising children who emerge from the womb with their hands out. I've got no problem with anyone who needs a "hand up;" but a "hand out" is another matter entirely. I fear for our children's future.

My beautiful state of Illinois is on there. Our current Governor won in 3 of the 102 counties. That was enough votes to win the office. He claims to have a mandate. I have worked all my life without getting a nickel from government. Now that I near retirement they are talking about reducing SS. Not to mention threats to "take over and manage" my 401k. So much for saving as a retirement plan. Have I been a sucker for believing in this hard work stuff?

My husband's on disability because he's blind, and he hasn't been able to find an employer who will hire him. They have all kinds of
'legitimate' excuses, but it comes down to him being a blind, white male.

Don't get me wrong- there are many people such as your husband on legitimate disability. I was referring to the recent trend of people moving from the unemployment roles to disability thru fraud or other mean's to continue to stay on the government dime.

Wasn't taking offense, YD, just making a point to those who might not understand the difference. You've never offended me, and I agree with you most of the time. I just wish he could find a job. He's SO frustrated. :(
To add to the frustration, my oldest hasn't had a job since the census, and has two kids. I wish I could do more for her.
