A government out of control in their spending habits... and a citizenry being enslaved to the entitlement system supported my a smaller and smaller tax base. The seperation of powers are a sham and distrust in government is at an all time high, corruption, greed and flat out lying to the people to achieve the totalitarian agenda. A totally unsubstainable economy heading towards a crash that is enevitable. National debt eating away at the dollar. Prices climbing everyday- on every product we use and need.

What are you doing to stay out of the bread lines that are coming?

I don't understand how the government still has fans anymore. I guess because they throw so many outlandish parties. This kind of stuff is truly and deeply saddening.

I'm gonna go find a homeless person to buy lunch for.

In order to "show" reduced welfare payouts, dot gov has encouraged or otherwise allowed sheep on welfare otherwise able to work to apply for disability payments. Thus taking the money out of a different pocket. Now, I don't know if that was an intended consequence or not, but there it is. (WSJ had an opinion piece on that a week or so ago.) I can easily see that action might affect the unemployment figures as well.

It is a shell game to keep the unemployment #'s low, but as you said @ghrit, "taking the money out of a different pocket". Even that game is losing- you can only hide the truth for so long.

Being a household that would have to triple our income to 'break' the poverty level, I would like to say that we're actually doing pretty good right now. Have money to start stocking up on supplies. Of course we own our place(well sorta, there is a small mortage that is around half-paid off and takes less than 20% of our monthly income) and have enough land to grow decent foodstuffs.

I don't understand it either. I find it unsettling that people are okay with living on handouts. The system was there for hard times or true disability only. Is it a lack in pride? Lack of drive? We have all those EEO laws and the Americans with disabilities act. Actually that Americans w/ disabilities has gone slightly wacky.
I have seen so many comments that the first family deserves these parties. The poorly educated seem to think it is glamorous yet they never think deeper then that. Don't they see past the cool facade and see the tyranny these people are inflicting?

    ghrit link???? to wsj, thanks

Couldn't find an archive linked on the main page. Within the last week or ten days in one of the editorial columns IIRC.

The Kardashians have fans. I gave a homeless vet some money the other day, and another homeless person some clothes yesterday. I just keep working on my own karma, and keep watching for theirs to get to them.

It has to be a combination of all of that. I can't even get my head around it anymore. It's as if the world has tilted on its axis some more and taken quite a few minds along with it. I forgot who said it recently on YouTube, may have been Aaron Hawkins/StormCloudsGathering, can't remember offhand, but he said that we have stopped evolving, and are now devolving. How profound, that we actually peaked, and are on our way back down the ladder. Which, when you think about it (and not even really all that hard), that statement is fully substantiated. America is in a state of near-total collectivism; slaves to their groups. The funny thing is, their groups sustain them socially, but beyond that, will serve no other purpose than to bring about the demise of the members of said groups. For survival, at its core, is contained within the individual human instinct.

So many people out there "half a million workers" left the labor force last month do to the lack of opportunities for employment. The continual attack on business with taxation, medical cost, and intense regulation is going to continue this downward trend. Bottom line is many more Americans are going from one system (unemployment) to welfare, disability or other programs that the working tax payer is covering. Nothing is being done to get them off the government dime, which is the plan for many in the government. Continue to prepare for the worse case scenario, as the downward spiral has no end in sight!!
