PETA: Our Drones Will Catch Abusive Hunters Animal rights group announces 'impressive new weapons' (Newser) – American hunters, watch out: The animal rights group PETA says it's going to launch drones to make sure you're abiding by the law, Fast Company reports. "PETA will soon have some impressive new weapons at its disposal to combat those who gun down deer and doves," wrote PETA's Kaitlynn Kelly in an email. She says PETA will buy a few Aerobot Cinestar Octocopters, which are used by filmmakers and can fly for 20 minutes with a small camera on board. PETA knows how to garner publicity, and can easily announce the drone plan without running afoul of FAA regulations or US line-of-sight laws. But there's some precedent for hunter-watching drones, which were flown by activists in Africa and North Carolina last year. And PETA did provide details, saying it will fly the drones to catch hunters who drink while using a firearm, maim animals for kicks, and break other hunting laws. That thing looks like a flying spider to me, and there is nothing anyone can say that will stop me from shooting down flying spiders! In other news I emailed the general address at PETA's website the other day asking how many chinchillas had to be murdered for a full length women's coat. Told them I had to figure out how many I needed to raise. I'm tellin ya, something about not eating meat really kills a vegan's sense of humor.
Right. "to combat those who gun down deer and doves". PETA has proven in a few instances they don't stop at just filming the hunting activities. They use the drones to spook the game being hunted. The thing I don't get is how PETA thinks one of those things will survive in the same area as hunters experienced in shooting moving targets at long distances once they piss off said hunters... Since when does a private entity take the place of a game warden, they over stepping their bonds and deserve to have those indiscriminately shot down. Reminds me of those Greenpeace advocates on the open seas harassing other boats.
The drones? Or the slobs? I'm guessing no bag limit on either, but the drones would probably be a bit tough to chew...
What they will do, is provoke hunters into firing on it, in doing so, they will be shooting over roads (violation) toward unseen targets (unsafe/ "Your target, and beyond"), they will claim that THEY were shot at themselves, and like that pigeon shoot, they will fabricate fleeing wrong doers. I am a firm believer in shooting down the spying bas#$rds, but make sure the shot can not be faulted. Use a weapon that will not carry too far, or is backstopped. P eople E ating T asty A nimals

Wonder how high/low they fly? Like, could you catch one with those big pigeon casters and then reprogram it to a new remote?
