I have a contact in Lake City and I can say that they upped their production equipment at the cost of the work force. In simple terms, they automated more and reduced the work force. This cost sveral millions and was done with the promise of Mil Contracts. This was done long before the election. Well, I told them three years ago that they needed to build new plants, as did several others in the industry, and more than one remarked that volume would not be high enough to pay for the tooling, etc. They were informed that this buying panic would last at least another five to six years. They didn't believe it, and now it looks to last longer than than was first estimated. Most industries have a pretty good idea of when to expand and when to pull in their horns. I can understand them ignoring me since I'm in the semiconductor industry, but some true experts in their field told them the same thing. No excuse for not seeing trends in one's own field. Jim
Just maybe they thought Obama would stomp on the 2nd and close down all gun sales in the US. Time line is about what Obama wanted to happen. Then again I could be wrong.
I've been on a winning streak with the 22LR last few weeks. A store by my house has them at least 3 days a week, usually boxes of 325 for $25. One box per day. I didn't have any set aside before the run, and I had bought a 22LR upper for an AR and a 22 pistol late last year. Was scared I wasn't going to be able to shoot them lol...but now I needa have a few different kinds cause my pistol won't cycle with the Federal 40 grain LRN's. Need Mini Mags and/or Stingers! I haven't seen those in a long time. The range by my house was charging $20 for a box of FIFTY rounds, 9mm FMJ's. Glad I learned to reload before all the craziness. And look at the message on Berry's MFG's "bullets" page. They can't keep up and are trying to expand production, like build another bullet making factory, pretty much lol..if only I had known this would happen 5 years ago I'd have built one myself.
