    Anyone have any info on the exact cause of death of those killed? If shrapnel hit them just so, I'm guessing it's very possible they could have bled out, especially because people around them would be freaking out/stampeding.

    My guess is all of the above, everything from shrapnel, trampling, and blunt force trauma..... not that it matters to the dead and wounded- it just sucks either way for them and their families....

    Most of the responders and wounded would have located near the last device that was unexploded- a definite kill box if timed for it!!! Good planning and fortunately bad execution...

    The second was larger than the first, I would have guessed the rest that were found would have been bigger yet. This is how its done in the sand box. drive the herd into a kill zone.

    This is starting to remind me of a Criminal Minds 2parter where they thought the bombs were planned to take out civilians in the first wave, then get first/emergency responders in the 2nd wave.

    Not disagreeing or arguing but a few thoughts to ponder:

    1. Don't forget that many of 9-11 bombers boarded flights out of Boston.

    2. The Boston Marathon is like the Tour deFrance for marathons. Runners came from over 90 counties to run. It is big.

    3. Most of the IEDs in Iraq are emplaced.

    4. There was an abortion clinic bombing a while back near Atlanta with two bombs about an hour apart. One 9th grade drop-out lone crazy (Rudolph) who evaded the FBI for 5 years is in supermax and he doesn't seem to be Ted Kaczynski smart crazy.

    Just food for thought.
