Investigators believe they have identified a suspect in the Boston Marathon bombings, a source who has been briefed on the investigation told major news stations.

The breakthrough came from analysis of video from a department store near the site of the second explosion. Video from a Boston television station also contributed to the progress, said the source, who declined to be more specific but called it a significant development.

Earlier, a federal law enforcement source with firsthand knowledge of the investigation told said that a lid to a pressure cooker thought to have been used in the bombings had been found on a roof of a building near the scene.

While such clues may move the investigation forward, they did not reveal whether the attack was an act of domestic or foreign terrorism.

As long as it's not a middle aged white guy with a bit of a gut and graying in the beard.

two thoughts come to mind, as the blasts were only 12 seconds apart.
    A) either he was under control by that live cell phone call and an active threat (maybe to a family member)
    OR
    B) he was detonating the first blast to draw off attention as he dropped the second charge and melted into the moving crowd.
Timers would point to a patsy, cell phone trigger could be triggered on site or by remote, and under threat. JMHO

Some of these men may have merely been victims, but the image of the two men standing together wearing the same clothes and carrying heavy backpacks and wearing credentials suggests they may have been involved in a drill or in the actual attack. One of individuals, a white man whose backpack was found at the scene of the bombing, looks badly dressed and disheveled.
The Associated Press is now reporting that authorities have identified a suspect wearing a “black jacket on a cell phone, wearing a gray hoodie and a white baseball cap backwards placing a black bag at the second bomb site outside of the Forum restaurant on Boylston Street and then leaving the area before that explosion,” a description which closely but not specifically could be applied to more than one different man identified in the photos below.
As eyewitness Ali Stevenson reported, marathon runners were told before the bombing that a “drill” was taking place involving bomb sniffing dogs and spotters of roofs and to remain calm, although police later denied that any exercise had taken place.
CNN reported that authorities have identified one of the suspects involved in the attack by means of “video from a department store near the site of the second explosion” and “video from a Boston television station.” CNN backed off a report that a suspect had already been arrested.
The Boston Globe also reports that, “authorities have an image of a suspect carrying and possibly dropping a black bag at the second blast site on Boylston Street.”
NewsCenter5 is reporting that, “An arrest is imminent or may have already taken place,” and that the individual is being taken to court.

they look like a team. With comms, and team work timing. These pics will likely be the justification given for drone coverage, in my opinion. "just think of the lives we could have saved, if we had seen this team setting these bombs just a bit sooner... "

Those to paramilitary dudes failed in blending. Desert combat boots, 5.11 tactical khaki pants, 5.11 tactical jacket, clean shaven, short hair, black tacticalish assault packs with tape markings, single ear phones, etc. I can't see, but I'd bet money they had on 5.11 polo shirts. Very well could have been posers, but that is $400-500 in clothing just from what I can see. Should have just worn a uniform. May be posers with expensive costumes. Either way, fail.

The two military guys look like either handlers of the other two 20 something guys or the excuse to blame this all on returning patriotic vets. I'm guessing they are spooks but wearing those kinds of uniforms and talking on the cell phones at the same time is indicative of them getting orders from a larger body of intelligence. If they are CIA or secret police then they would be overseeing the operation before it gets under way and then stepping back to a much more secure location before the action starts.

I think we should look to where this is headed and beat them to the punch. We should start fabricating stories that the back packs used in bomb making were bought at MalWart and we the people are demanding legislation to "protect the children" from future MalWart backpacks and other various dangerous corporate items.

If these guys were SEALS, they would be using their SS (Spread Spectrum) Squad Comm Units and NOT Cellphones... for Comms... They may have been Operators, but if they were, they were NOT very smart ones.... and certainly NOT SEALS.... ..... YMMV....

The more I think about this, the more I think the 2 suspects they are looking for are a couple of older, teen losers much like the Columbine shooters who fantasized about this kind of stuff and are so schizoid, they did something like this just for kicks without any shred of empathy.

More than likely, if we pay attention to the facts of the past, we will find they were schooled and preened as well as encouraged by FBI or some black ops para-military group funded by our very own secret government.

This is usually when the story forks and there are two different ones that emerge. The fabricated television version and the actual story. I saw one of the newscasters preparing peoples minds for the story to change. The quote was "as we all know, the facts of these kinds of stories change all the time..."

Falsely Accused Boston Teen: It's 'Scary'

Salah Barhoum says he's a target after photo shows up on New York Post

(Newser) – Take a look at the two suspects sought by the FBI in the Boston bombings, and one person you will not see is 17-year-old Salah Barhoum. Which is notable only because the Boston-area teen woke up today to discover he and a friend were pictured on the front page of the New York Post under the giant headline "Bag Men," with a smaller hed saying feds were looking for them. (BuzzFeed has the cover.) Barhoum and his friend had the misfortune of attending the marathon while not looking American, and amateur sleuths trying to find the bombers put their images in wide circulation.

"It's the worst feeling that I can possibly feel," the native of Morocco tells ABC News. "I'm only 17." And he tells AP that he's been deluged with online messages from people thinking he's a terrorist. He went to the police himself to clear his name. "I'm going to be scared going to school," says Barhoum, who runs track on his high school team. "Workwise, my family, everything is going to be scary." The incident has brought charges of vigilantism not only to the New York tabloid but to sites like Reddit, whose members have been poring over photos and publicizing ones deemed fishy. Not so fast, writes Will Oremus at Slate. Redditors actually make a sincere effort to self-police. And "there’s no denying that a few professional media outlets have demonstrated far less of a conscience than the users and moderators of findbostonbombers." Click for his full post.

FBI interviewed dead Boston bombing suspect years ago - CBS News

The FBI admitted Friday they interviewed the now-deceased Boston Marathon bombing suspect Tamerlan Tsarnaev two years ago and failed to find any incriminating information about him.

As first reported by CBS News correspondent Bob Orr, the FBI interviewed Tsarnaev, the elder brother of at-large bombing suspect Dzhokhar A. Tsarnaev, at the request of a foreign government to see if he had any extremist ties, but failed to find any linkage.
Both Tsarnaev brothers were legal permanent residents of the U.S. There is no evidence so far that either brother received any tactical training.
CBS News correspondent John Miller reports it is likely Russia asked to have the elder Tsarnaev vetted because of suspected ties to Chechen extremists.
The FBI is likely to have run a background check, running his name through all the relevant databases, including those of other agencies, checking on his communications and all of his overseas travel. Miller reports that culminated in a sit-down interview where they probably asked him a lot of questions about his life, his contacts, his surroundings. All of this was then written in a report and sent it to the requesting government.
This is an issue they've had in the past. They interviewed Carlos Bledsoe in Little Rock, Ark., before he shot up an Army recruiting station in 2009. They were also looking into Major Hasan Nadal before the Fort Hood shootings.
However, the FBI has maintained in those incidents that they took all the steps they were asked to and were allowed to under the law.
Although the FBI initially denied contacting Tsarnaev, the brothers' mother said they had in an interview with Russia Today.
Zubeidat Tsarnaeva said her son got involved in "religious politics" about five years ago, and never told her he was involved in "jihad."
She insisted the FBI "knew what he was doing on Skype" and that they counseled him "every step of the way."
Tsarnaeva, who is a U.S. citizen currently in Russia, told Russia Today the FBI had called her with concerns about her elder son, although she did not specify when exactly she was contacted.
"They used to come [to our] home, they used to talk to me ... they were telling me that he was really an extremist leader and that they were afraid of him," Tsarnaeva said. "They told me whatever information he is getting, he gets from these extremist sites... they were controlling him, they were controlling his every step...and now they say that this is a terrorist act!"

TELL ME THESE PEOPLE IN THE SECRET GOVERNMENT DON'T DO THEIR HOMEWORK.
