Another quick look at some outstanding new member-discounted deals at Safecastle ... these are two of the most powerful, yet economical solar generator systems available anywhere. Spring and summer storm season is barreling down on us, so the time is now to get squared away ...

    1. The AEB OX Mini Power Plant Solar Generator is what I have for my own personal use, and I swear by it. This baby is powerful, and when coupled with the optional Kyocera two-solar-panel-kit, you are up and running at home or away, no matter what the status of the grid may be. It's all plug and play--extremely easy to use--no technical know-how required. And if you need even more power than the 3000 watts, 200 amp hours in the base system, there are optional plug-in PiggyBack units to bump that up to 300 or 400 amp hours!

    2. GoalZero recently came out with a complete 1250 watt solar generator system, the Yeti 1250, with cart and a pair of panels. Less power, less cost ... you decide how much back-up power you want or need.

Why do you use locking bolts on your systems?
There are two reasons we use locking bolts on our systems; First, it is a safety precaution designed to prevent general access to the case by small children. Our systems are not toys-- they contain a large amount of electricity, and touching the wrong wires inside can cause severe injury and possibly death.
The second reason is to prevent do-it–your-selfers from servicing the unit. Only licensed American Energy Backup technicians are allowed to service our systems.

    It's for the children....
    To protect us...of coarse.

That would be about warranty issues as well as proprietary system info protection, in my opinion ... but I am just a dealer.

You alter it, they have no reason to honer the warranty that say's "we assembled it exactly correctly, and with the right parts. It will do what we say it will do, for the time period we say it will do it." You screw around with it, you are screwing around with their pledge. Of course, they will try to lock you out, because most people will blame them, if something goes wrong.
" it went kablooey, so I opened it up and found this" (No, you opened it up, and touched the case to short the load, and it went Kablooey) But arguing with a customer is not cost effective, so just make it obvious if it has been tampered with, and make the warranty void if opened. No arguments. You open it, it ain't my problem anymore.

Do-It-Yourselfers are "evil" and it's to protect the children.
We should never desire to figure something out for ourselves and always rely on the "authorities/professionals". I'm sure a couple batteries, inverter and 1-2 others "features" are INCREDIBLY dangerous.
All sales are final with this company anyway and warranty is on individual parts by manufacturer - not reseller.
    I get it.
In fact they should start making all cars this way so that you have to pay ridiculous prices to have spark plugs changed...
It would be good for the economy and keep people employed!
Barry should draft a law immediately!

Grinder, in some cases, batteries ARE dangerous. And shorting out on a case is a major techno-screwup in my business. but we are dealing with 110vt. 240vt, and 480vt systems. in some cases, we must drain off all charge before we crack cases, or we may fry boards, or cause arcing, which can cause board failures, fires, and death (to us) so don't let me baffle you with facts, continue with your own destructive path. But, if they are no mystery, and so easy to work on, then by all means, build one yourself, and feel free to service it, for there will be no surprises. It should be cheaper as well.

I don't think you are getting my point...(as usual)
The lock bolts are to prevent access to your own property so that you have to pay their "certified" techs to service it.
It's not being done for your "protection".
It's a control freak greed mechanism and u dislike me too much to see it.
If all your guns, engines, etc were built like this...what would you think?

    Snap out of it man.

My comment has nothing to do with you personally. period.
Would you also object, if the service call were free, within the warranty period?

Absolutely. What happens when it breaks AFTER the warranty?
What happens when the lock bolts are designed specifically TO break a circuit board or whatever "to prevent tampering" with your own property? Evil do-it-youselfer!
If it was all about warranty - put a sticker on it that crosses a seam.
What if I had ideas on how to improve it? Should I have to ask permission from a "specialist" before upgrading/personalizing my own property?
    Learn to recognize spin.
It's not about protecting children....it's not about protecting you...
It's about controlling you in an orderly descent into planned obsolescence, submission to "authority" and milking as much $ out of you as they can along the way.

I use "security screws" many times as part of my job. I have never seen any type of set up designed to destroy property, security Screws ARE used for any application where people screw around with stuff just being stupid. Like removing screws from bathroom stall partitions, or cover plates on exterior entrance devices as part of what keeps bad guys out of places they should not be. If you don't like the security screws being in your property, simply replace them with standard machine screws (understanding by violating the warranty agreement you are now on your own) security driver heads come in kits just like any other screwdriver kits, and be purchased without any hassle by anyone. The are not restricted. There are hundreds of security designs though, so make sure the tip you need is in that kit. Their purpose is to protect. We even are required to install red headed screws in things that are under spring tension, as a last ditch warning that this is dangerous if messed with. Large springs and cable systems can kill you fast or slow, don't argue, I know that for a fact, but people WILL get hurt by them every year, because they don't have a clue what they are doing. But that didn't stop them from trying. They own the doors, but those fasteners are there to try to save them grief. But if you are intent on being stupid, they will not stop you. As Ron White says " you can't fix stupid, stupid is forever".
