This is what it is going to take nationally to shut this gun control issue down. Police at the city, county, and state level fighting the absurdity of it all, the people standing up for their rights and the politicians set right thru the ballot box. The fight is never over, but the current battle can not be lost!!!!
The hard part is that they are objecting on funding and practical grounds. That won't fly very far until the bills come due and (maybe) make a wakeup call on the libs. It's like you can't afford your taxes, but have to pay anyway. Sheriff's that don't comply will, at best, lose their jobs if not go to jail for dereliction of duty. Idiocy has a cost, no matter which side of the issue one lands on. But the sheriffs are absolutely correct, the law is absurd on the face of it.
I was really surprised to see my Sheriff on the list. Last I heard he was playing nice with the evil ones and was supporting all the new guns laws. I guess he finally started listening to the people . I know his office was very rude with all the phone calls. I am suspicious that he is signing on to this just to keep his power.
The Americans with Disabilities Act is a great angle. Hopefully the Paralyzed Veterans of America and other groups will join suit in fighting this absolute personal disarmament tripe
I am not sure about Colorado, but sheriffs here are elected officials...not subject to being fired, only to recall by the voters. Unlike the city and state head cops, who owe their jobs to mayors or governors, sheriffs are the people's law enforcement officers.
Sheriffs in Colorado, ARE Elected, However they are also Goverened, by State Staute, and it is my belief that they can be removed, by the Governor, for Cause, under State Statutes. I am also of the understanding that the State Legislature, sets Sheriff Salary, by State Statute. There was news reports that the State Legislators were thinking about using that Statute as a HAMMER, to get the Sheriffs to comply with these new Gun Control Statutes in Colorado. This is going to come to a head, about just who is going to dominate State Law, and come out on Top. It is my belief, that the Colorado Legislature went way over the Top, and the Residents of this State will Correct these issues with Recalls, and finally, during the very Next Election Cycle. My Opinion.... YM &OMY...
When it comes to the point of attempting to explain how a basic Constitutionally protected right can be reduced to becoming a basic need which must be examined, the fight is lost. They might as well call it the "Bill of Needs" while they are at it and just be done. No, the people must be kept ignorant and misinformed, lulled to sleep by despots who parrot the same tune of 'safety' provided by the State instead of personal liberty and responsibility of the individual. The people falsely believe they are free, and as long as this myth stands, they will just keep chipping away. Good on the Sheriffs, I hope they give 'em hell.
Update: Glendale repeals law prohibiting sale and transfer of assault weapons | KDVR.com This is a first. Will other Cities and towns follow, I am quite sure. I was really surprised that Glendale would do something like this, but it makes me smile.
