    @BushcrafterAnthony , thanks for finding this:

    Full story here.

    The second to last nail in the coffin of liberty

    There is no way Obama is getting impeached, if by some chance he does, there's no way he's going anywhere. It's all about waiting for some kind of trigger event and then its lockdown for liberty.

    If I understand all I think I know, this does not violate Posse Comitatus nor the Insurrection Act by mere existence. Any violation would not exist unless the actual "policing" were instituted where it were clearly not needed and properly authorized. The authorization is within SecDef's portfolio and always has been. Now it seems to be codified for this issue of the Defense Authorization Bill if not in perpetuity instead of left open to interpretation. All the same, the blurring of the demarcation between the thin blue line and the heavy camo line is distressing.

    From the Posse Comitatus Act

    Sec. 15. From and after the passage of this act it shall not be lawful to employ any part of the Army of the United States, as a posse comitatus, or otherwise, for the purpose of executing the laws, except in such cases and under such circumstances as such employment of said force may be expressly authorized by the Constitution or by act of Congress ; and no money appropriated by this act shall be used to pay any of the expenses incurred in the employment of any troops in violation of this section and any person willfully violating the provisions of this section shall be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor and on conviction thereof shall be punished by fine not exceeding ten thousand dollars or imprisonment not exceeding two years or by both such fine and imprisonment ----

    The Secretary of Defense shall prescribe such regulations as may be necessary to ensure that any activity (including the provision of any equipment or facility or the assignment or detail of any personnel) under this chapter does not include or permit direct participation by a member of the Army, Navy, Air Force, or Marine Corps in a search, seizure, arrest, or other similar activity unless participation in such activity by such member is otherwise authorized by law.

    It has become a very blurry line, and appears to be continuing in that direction. My five year old came home from the store the other day with a new truck he had purchased, and wanted me to take it out of the packaging for him. I glanced at the blue and white coloring, and the "Police" stickers blazoned across the Humvee, and said, "Oh, you've got you a new police car." He said, "No Daddy, it's an Army truck. See the machine guns and rocket launchers?" Who am I to argue with a five year old? He appears to see things pretty clearly.

    That line says it all- and many of us have sworn to it several times fully knowing what that means- not just foreign folks but domestic terrorist as well being our concern.

    @ghrit said it well-
    This is just putting it on paper so there is no question of the intent or interpretation. Under extreme circumstances they can be used to quell national disturbances or to defend against these domestic enemies.

    The fear now is that all non-left leaning folks are being catogorized as potential terrorist in one form or another. Be it due to your stated views, actions or affilitations that don't agree with the current administrations views and policies. At what point does the miltary hammer come into play with a "trigger event ", that will continue to be the question as it always has been. Be it a false flag or real attack to initiate martial law (similar to what we saw with local LEO activities in Boston), just on a national scale. As we see every week in the news, the .gov is planning and preparing for just such event, most likely sooner than later.

    And all it is going to take is a handful of liberal-arts majors (aka "officers") to overextend the implied intent to trigger a situation that will not be defused before many Americans are casualties. There is NO provision for accountability, nor responsibility, of faulty judgement of any "federal military commanders" in such activities. The UCMJ would be the best bet, but that is akin to having the foxes guard the henhouse.

    BTW, this came out 5 days ago, May 14, 2013 ;)

  7. ".... to engage temporarily in activities that are necessary to quell large-scale, unexpected civil disturbances..."

    "Temporarily," that is one of those conveniently inserted vague words used in law that often goes unnoticed and not much fuss is made over, but time and again often is shown that "temporary" is often not so temporary.

    We were assured that even though the police were given the much needed super-powers to help keep us safe, all the surveillance to keep us safe, all the warrantless searches to keep us safe, the fast-service line at the warrant shop to keep us safe, all the different armed federal agencies that never existed prior to ? to keep us safe...we would never be abused by these necessary steps to keep us safe...it's our government, after all, trust us, we're here to help...The problem with that is that the abuses started right out of the gate; when you are a hammer, everything is a freaking nail.The blurred line is nothing more that a justification for the abuses that get caught on tape. IRS? SWAT dynamic entries on low-risk arrests? May I see your papers please? Waco? Ruby Ridge? Damages by Domestic Terrorist planted bombs far in excess of the physical properties of the type and amount of explosives used? Building 7? Benghazi?The magic Bushmaster that somehow amazingly made its way into a school, killed a bunch of kids and made it back to the trunk of a car, even though the poor perpetrator was dead inside the building?That's the problem with a "blurred" line: obfuscation. Look it up and stop defending technical legality of the finer points of any attack on our Liberty.
