Eye spy: Facial recognition software is coming to Google Glass | Fox News

Privacy coming to an end....... and there is nothing that will stop the march of technology.

Note to self: Need to design "Google Glass Smasher" (portable jammer/scrambler) :(

I wonder if someone could make an effective GGlass jammer app for your telephone.... that would sell very well.

What do you mean 'Coming' it's already here. Just a webservice. Upload an image to the webservice and shazam.

But technology can be beaten. Bullets, emp, stick/club/hammer. If you get the soft squishy things that are carrying/directing/managing the technology out of the loop .. it's pretty much harmless.

What was that movie where the cops could playback the last few images from a deadman's perspective?

Don't mess with the transmission (wifi/cell signal) the FCC will be up in ya ..

IR emitter or hell, how about a 50w CO2 laser, that ought to fry both the camera and the thing wearing the glasses. Yeah, I'm going with the laser. More in line with my break the technology with a hammer. But more cool.

Yeah, we'll be able to get part to build that off ebay.

might as well pound a landscape spike into the hard case for the soft squishy technology carrying things memory/hard drive. And then pray for a lighting strike.

One of my Partners, designed a Lightning Catcher, as part of his Master Program.... It used a CO2 Laser that when fired, made a Low Resistance Ion Path between the Catcher, and the Cloud..... The Engineering School would NOT allow him to actually build one, but the principals were correct, and well documented.... When he Graduated, with his Phd, in EE... they were very happy to see him leave... Always afraid he would build the thing, in his spare time..... ......

The PBS show Nova had a program on lightning about a decade or more ago. Some very interesting stuff where the researchers worked in the lightning capital of the world, central Florida. They would shoot model rockets dragging a thin wire into the cumulonimbus clouds when the electric field got high enough and trigger a lightning strike. They could get the lightning to hit exactly where they wanted and even penetrate through things like window screen or sand so they could measure the diameter of the bolt and follow the glassified tracks under ground. Proved that buried power lines and cables are not immune to lightning hits. Great episode.

Use a laser to create an ion "wire" to trigger and direct the strike to a specific location? Absolutely. Interesting potential to use lightning to sabotage. The pols better ban lightning.

No, just your average Genius, with a very inventive Mind... This was back in the Mid 60's, when CO2 Lasers were all the rage, in Post Graduate EE Schools.....

  18. In the short term, you should be more worried about the police doing this. Different law enforcement departments throughout the country are already enthusiastic about the prospect of using an app on cell phones to be able to pull up instant records (where a record exists) on people who they stop using both facial recognition technology, as well as through the use of mobile fingerprint scanners.

I'm sure the NYPD and their abomination known as the "stop-and-frisk" program which stops and searches 500,000-plus people a year could benefit from such technology, should it ever get fielded in that city.

I guess I'll have to break out my Bill Clinton mask to wear when I go out in public. I wonder how the bank tellers will react?

I could not in good conscience wear a Billy mask but Ronnie would be good to go.
