Fourth Amendment Can We Take Your Picture

I went to the doctor yesterday to have a checkup, prior to him renewing a prescription. I checked in at the front counter with the receptionist... and she said she needed to update my file with a new consent form which I read thouroughly...like we all should and then signed it (normal HIPPA stuff). She seemed agitated that I actually took the time to read it. Then she asked if I would let her take a digital picture of my face"for my file". I was taken aback a little as it was not the normal question I would expect to be asked, especially at the doctors office,.... and then I promptly told her no, she could not. That registered a sideways glance and a scowl on her face. She asked me if I was sure, I just smiled, turned around and sat down in the waiting room chair....

Now I did not give her any reason and mostly because I was surprised at the question. But as I sat there in my chair I considered all the reasons why not to submit to a photo. And why they would want it.... And I started wondering about facial recognition software conversations we have had here on SM. Could this be another means of tying your overall "person" digitally to one master file. When you walk down the street in the not so distant future will that police officer with his goggle glasses be able to instantly see me, know who I am, if I have a CCW, what my med's are, criminal history and so on.....all with just a glance my way?

Now I do not look at this as "tin foil" or paranoia on my part, but a question of what is going on with society- allowing government at all levels to get so large and powerful that the people are oblivious to what is happening all around them, at the expense of their liberty. Has the welfare state and the indoctrination of our youth gone so far...to tip the scales beyond recovery? Has there been that big of a swing in the way our country thinks, as to create unquestioning obedience to the government in this manner?

with ObamaCare, your Medical Records become part of the Insurance, and go into a Database... If "they" want MY picture, "they" can fly out here and try and take it..... ......

YD, have they asked you about guns in the home yet?
You know what I would have done when i got to see the doc. I'd ask him/her WTF? Seriously, my picture? A discussion would have ensued and I may or may not have gone back to that doc dependent on answers given.

Oh as for the med's you are on. If you were one of the 60 Million insurance records that the IRS nabbed, they already know what you are and have been on.

    For the most part, yes.

I sit down with my son every week and we discuss things said by his teachers and the adminstration in his school so far, so good. When we lived in Massachusetts though it was more like a weekly de-programming.

If they know what I am taking I really don't care..... but it is the point of the matter.... it is none of their business..... just like it should remain!!

When I switched doctors in January they wanted me to fill out a questionnaire that had the normal questions and the ones below that I left blank.

    Family History:
    Mental disorders

    Social History:
    Are you sexually active
    Do you use condoms
Do you have sex with - men / women / both
How many sex partners in the last year
How long with your current sex partner
Does this partner have sex with other partners
Has conflict in your relationship been handled by pushing, hitting or cruelty
Have you ever been sexually abused

    Health Habits:
Does your home have a working smoke detector
Do you have a carbon monoxide monitor at home
Do you have firearms at home
If yes, are they safely locked away
Do you wear a seat belt

    Review Of Symptoms:
Do you have little interest or pleasure doing things during the last month
Do you often feel down, depressed or hopeless during the last month

When I turned it in I was told that I didn't complete everything and needed to finish it. I told them that those questions had nothing to do with why I was there and I refuse to answer them. They tried a couple more times to get me to fill it out and gave up when they knew it was not going to happen.

And now they think if they give you forms or direction that you have to follow their "orders".
And as far as the affordable care act (the poor can not afford) or obummer care goes...... [finger]

There comes a time, when a doctor must be put in his/her place. I have done it twice. I laid out plainly to my last doctor, I wanted to know all results, what it meant, what was right, what was wrong, and what could improved. In answer to my yearly physical, i got back, "oh, you are fine, don't worry about it" I fired him, and explained why he failed to measure up. My current doctor knows why he has the job. i told him i would settle for nothing less. He complies, fully. However, I had a scheduled appointment, with time off work, and a list of things that he knew he was to test for. While i waited about an hour beyond my appointed time, minor walk-in were taken ahead of me. I noted the time. my appointment came and went, and as I was settling my bill, I presented my bill for the wasted hour. They have never kept me waiting ever again. questions about income, guns, seatbelts, are all met with the same answer. "That is none of your business." That doctor is a well paid servant, he is selling a service, and it IS a business arrangement. First and foremost, he works for me.

No they have not asked about guns.... and if they did ask about them or anything else non related to my visit.... my answer would just be a blank response.... neither confirm nor deny... either way they get nothing.

The doc is a cog in the machine of a large hospital... he probably had no idea that they were doing it..... He is Turkish and we had a political discussion about his homeland riots and such going on... he is a good chap as they say.

My SawBones and I talk about firearms all the time, as I have SOLD him a few over the years. When he comes out here in his boat, fishing, we usually do some shooting.... Not an issue in Alaska..... as the only Folks who do NOT have Guns in their Homes, are the few un-acclimated FlatLanders, who are only one winter away from heading back to where they came from.....

LOL! You sound like me. We do the same thing in our house. My child knows to report all current event discussions to me. I know who introduced what topic and I know all about the discussions. I also have had discussions and taught the children what to say if asked about firearms in our home. I hate to teach my children to lie or be vague but in today's world they know. Actually one of the kids has gotten after me about discussing firearms on this site. But Mom, you are supposed to..... you told us..... I need to follow my own rules.

I was half asleep when they got me on tuesday... I was awake enough to question the forms and assured they only shared with the doctor that sent me and would stay in the hospitals data base where I was. The picture caught me so off guard, I just stared blankly into the cute little cam. Oh well, as being former military and federal employee with pictured and bio Id on to many badges to count on most days... I think they have me already in the system. If we can't get out of this state and me out of this job in time they will be rolling all federal employees (prob state ones too) and military into the fed health fiasco just to have the funds available from them. Advice... find a place in what hopefully will remain a "free" state and move there as soon as posible. This will exclude, of course, any state on the east or west coasts and most of those close to them. I see travel may get tough between states as they seek to enforce the fed law through the clone states that support them. LOL what a world this is becoming. God is in control through it all, just sayin :)

"flatlanders" lol I love that term and hope to never be living where I can't at least see huge mountains in the close distance. I'd of been back in AK but could only make it as far as Wa. Maybe later, we'll see :)

Yes, now imagine YD's idea of every 'official' knowing your identity instantaneously... As that really is the theme of the story. But the masses are fed a constant barrage of 'look at how this great tech will benefit you and make your life so much easier!'. It really is only a matter of time. This future has been in the making for over 100 yrs. All out world war won't even prevent it; might just delay it for a time.

Oh PS In answer to your last question, yes we have fallen that far.

For the times that I must show a pictured ID, such as using a credit card or doing banking, I provide my concealed pistol license instead of my driver's license. The person on the other side of the counter can't refuse it as it was issued by the state government and it keeps the data strip on the back of the driver's license secure.

When I need to use Picture ID, I ALWAYS use my US PassPort.... it gives my Picture, Name, and Birthday, Place of birth, and that is IT. I certifies that I am a US Citizen. It does NOT give, my State of Residence, my Address, or any other information, about ME. It is ALL anyone needs to know about me, Period. If I am Driving, then and only then will I produce a Drivers License. My Drivers License gives others WAY TO MUCH Personal Information, and therefor is NEVER Produced, unless I am Driving. LEOs have given me a hard time about this practice, and questioned my reasons for NOT producing A DRIVERS LICENSE. My stock answer is "Sir, I am NOT Driving. You have my US PassPort. It is MY Federally Issued, Legal Picture Identification. That is ALL you are entitled to, by Federal Statute. I have no further comment." They just can't stand not getting their way, but when I refuse to answer ANY and ALL other Questions, they eventually just give up, and go away. I give them, only what is Required by Federal Statute, and that is ALL, Period. .....
