Police Readying First Amendment Zones To Quell Possible Zimmerman Backlash « CBS Miami

"Unsure of how the public will react following the verdict in the George Zimmerman murder trial, local leaders and police are working closely to establish designated areas where people can gather peacefully."

Really? Now we are only allowed to assemble peacefully in designated area? Anybody else have a problem with this concept? Last I checked, the designated area for peaceful assembly was the entire land mass of the United States. Not just certain areas determined by government thugs pretending to protect us. While I understand the concern for containing possibly violent protests, I can't agree with "you can b**** all you want but only in these areas" attitude.

I know that universities have been doing this for a while with their "Free Speech Zones", but a city police force now getting into the action? Everybody know where your local "First Amendment Zone" is located so you can go there and speak your mind when you feel life under a jackboot heel is too oppressive? And oh by the way they forgot to tell you before you entered: the entrance to that "First Amendment Zone" is one way. No exits. And that concertina wire on the fence is to protect you while you exercise your right to free speech.

I am really disturbed by this if you are unable to tell...

Disgusting and disturbing as it is, it is not at all a new practice...dating back to at least 2008 for the convention cities...and I believe earlier in DC...the elite "safe zone".

There is not a right guaranteed by the constitution that has not been severely eroded over the past 20 years...and the speed of the erosion just keeps increasing. It's reached a point where most are noticing because "they" are becoming so blatant about it, knowing the bobble heads will just keep nodding.

So then where are the areas where you can be pissed off about it, or the areas that you can start a riot in? Total BS.

But, but, but it is for your safety. You know how much they care about your safety. Didn't you listen? They are only taking away our rights because it is the best for us and we don't know that is for the best. *** end sarcasm

I am packing, as are several others. Those of you packing move to one or two layers of people inside of the outside of this mass of people, and as close to one of the armed guards outside of the fence protecting us. When I shout "Wolverines", commence shooting the guards and lets break the heck out of this joint!

Sounds like a plan.... make SURE that you KILL the Guards, with the first shot.... don't want to lose any body because they couldn't shoot straight....

Setting up protest zones is nothing new. We did this back in the 80's when I was in SF. We used it to keep opposing sides apart and avoid violence while letting everyone protest. Most times there is a counter protest to whatever is going on, with the cops stuck in the middle.
