I wanted to share a Video I did testing out My Henry US survival Rifle I had seen several videos of people throwing this rifle into the water , saying that it would float and not sink So I set out to try it for myself and see what the limitations were So Altogether its a great little rifle and the fact that it is not "unsinkable" isnt a big deal but I just wanted to give a more real life accurate depiction of how it really handles water
Thank you, that was very informative. I've been considering getting one to put in a GHB for my truck.
I would move the video to a certain other thread I started but figured it would get me in hot water in so many ways ......
Awesome thanks for checking out this thread and commenting I really like the rifle and have had no miss fires or jams that alot of people claim on these rifles And I shoot the cheap ammo
Real demonstration of how a product works and what the limitations are... thanks for the video. Only thing that would have made it better was to shoot a few rounds after pulling it out of the pool.... but great job in your effort
The quality control on these rifles seems to be hit or miss. Some people have a more refined, higher quality finish inside the receiver, and the bolt actuates well. Others, like myself have had problems. I remedied this by taking it apart and sanding the internal portion of the receiver and going over the parts, adding my own touches. I even modified an old AR-7 extended magazine to fit my Henry Survival Rifle. By the way, not to be too picky, the rifle you have is not an actual AR-7, it's the modern Henry Survival Rifle. They are different, and the Henry is an improvement in some ways over the older AR-7, which isn't being manufactured any more. =) Forum link for more: Gear Review - Portable Survival Rifle | Page 2
To make sure the rifle will still float even if the buttpad is not properly secured, you may want to roll up a sheet of bubble wrap, cut it to shape, and tape it up pretty good. That should insure enough floatation for the rifle when the barrel and action aren't in the stock, and somehow the buttpad was left unsecured. What do you do with the float when the action is stored in the stock? figure something out, maybe a pillow for when you're sleeping on the ground. Maybe you can use it as a barrel rest when shooting prone. Edit to add: I was unaware of the reference to BoB meaning bug out bikini.
i LOL Bugout Bikini thats great Great Idea Thanks for the Input For me thought the floating part is not that big of a feature , sure it is cool in all But it really doesnt matter to me that much that it isn't unsinkable I just wanted to put a accurate float test video out there on this gun because I had not seen 1 All the videos out there on youtube seem to just make people believe that it will float no matter what . From crossing Large Streams , rivers in NC I knew different and wanted to show the firearms real capability when it came to Floating
Gentlemen, the art of a Bug Out Bikini, is an awesome and scary thing. It is good we have an expert in the art among us. She is much better at it than I am, I can assure you, though the photos might stun someone long enough for a tactical advantage. (Her's and mine both, for different reasons)
Her's is clearly a Bug-Out-Bikini, not a Bug-In-Bikini, as BIB's tend to be less substantial, and translucent. Proper deployment of a BOB or BIB is critical. I understand hands-on, one on one, training is required for best effect.
