Melbo, while perusing another gear review thread you had done about a maxpedition edc carry, the comment was made about carrying a handcuff key. these pens would be a perfect medium to have or hold a handcuff key.maybe even as the pocket clip just a thought
Thanks for the idea, might have to explore this. I do have 1 Extreme Duty Pen in Ti available for sale.
yeah, it's a nice pen. Would love to get one, but not in the budget this year. Once the divorce lawyers are all done doing their thing, I can look at it again.
I bought one those very pens a few months ago. Says Uzi on the side. I think it was 16 bucks from Amazon with Prime free shipping. The key will also unscrew from the cap to provide the little pin that double locks a cuff. It's aluminum and about 9/16 inch diameter. Just a little big. You know it's in your pocket and when I pull it out to sign a charge card receipt it sometimes garners a comment from the clerk. The pen retracts by unscrewing the two halves far enough apart that it just doesn't stick out: rather crude and requires two hands and several seconds. Friction to keep it from unscrewing two or so more rotations and falling apart in your pocket is via an o-ring on the lower body portion. A steel pointed stud is in the cap for the key that is alleged to be a glass breaker. Haven't tried it. Having used spring punches from my EMT days several decades ago, I suspect it will not be easy to break a car window with this. I think I prefer the idea of a stronger material like titanium, more like 3/8" diameter and more subtle grooving etc. to be less obvious it's a tactical pen but I can't justify the bucks I've seen for those, but I do like the Hinderer version pictured above, would be nice to not have to screw a cap on and off though. Supposedly screeners and TSA are starting to catch these and sometimes prohibit them. Might just have to machine my own. This Uzi version from China isn't wonderful but its cheap and for locations where a gun or knife are prohibited (like work), this is better than nothing if evasion doesn't pan out. AT
Handcuff Key Covert Wristband Bracelet Hidden Non Metallic Emergency Escape EDC | eBay One of those survival rope bracelets with this would be a good tool.

I have about 6 times so far with no issue. I just stick them in my carry on. I suppose they could hassle you but then you just drop $5 and ship it home from the TSA USPS counter.
