We've received a request to find a way to honor a special Monkey. Our Iron Monkey: Has been with us since our founding, Has become a friend to many, Has generously and tirelessly found ways to help others, Has given of his time and resources, Has given. I know of few others who have been as consistent, reliable and level headed as this Monkey. He empowers and ennobles other monkeys by showing: Kindness, expressed with tenderness Unity expressed, with harmony Agreeableness, expressed with pleasantness Humility, expressed with modesty And Patience, expressed with perseverance I have learned much from this monkey. He's altered the way I think and the way I perceive the world around me. He has touched the hearts of my family with his gifts. I know I'm not alone in my experience. @Bear - Thank you for enriching this forum. Please accept the title of Iron Monkey Thanks also to @Sapper John for the suggestion and for staying on my case as we thought this over. Maybe we'll add more monkeys to this group over the years...
I approached Melbo about this a while ago. I have had a lot of dealings with Bear and I have done some business with him. Bear, as anyone who has dealt with him will know, always goes above and beyond what is asked or requested of him. Bear is an example of what a Monkey should be and is a perfect example of what Monkeys should strive for. He is a man that I would put my complete trust in and would do whatever is in my power to help him and his family. Thank you Bear, for setting a standard that I will always strive for! BTW, I would like for anyone with a Bear story to share their experiences with us please.
An exceptional Monkey in every way!! Every time I read his post in various areas, I feel enriched from his knowledge. His craftsmanship with his "tools" have blessed me with two great works of art!! Congratulations on the deserved new honor bestowed upon you @Bear!!! YD

Good call!! Bear embodies the spirit of what we as monkeys all strive to be. A loyal, honest and dependable friend to all. I have a Spiderco lockback blade I bought from him many years ago that is always in my pocket.
When I think of the terms "kindness", "generosity" and "friendliness", I think of Bear. He truly exudes these qualities and much more. As always, I am proud to know him.
Bear is a fabulous Monkey! I would venture to say that he has enriched more than just the forum, but enriched every life he has touched. Silly Sapper, Monkeys know that Bear stories are best told by Bears.

For my Special Monkey Family, I want to express my humble thanks to all those kind words and sentiments expressed in this thread. Thank you for this most amazing honor... "Iron Monkey" I was truly speechless as I read through this (I thought it was an established post or "like" threshold :0).... and this old fart even got a little misty there for a bit... needed to take a bit and pause there.... I thought about all the nice things that have ever happened to me in my life... I've got to say... "meeting" all of you and being able to have a laugh, share some ideas/skills and learn a few things here with you is right up there at the top with just a few other things... (like the birth of my Daughter :0) And this recognition is the very best I've received because it seems to have come, quite un-expectantly, from my Monkey family.... Thank you all again...
