How to deal with pirates

    Just a few thoughts:

Looks like an ordinary, run of the mill AR-15. I watched it in lo-res, so I couldn't see if there was a happy switch on the side or not. I would think that a .308 AR would be a little bit better in that situation, or is that just me?

Warning shots! Bam-bam-bam-bam-bam-bam-bam-bam... Et al, empty mag.

I liked the sandbagged position, but it looked like they ran out of sandbags and didn't have enough for the stern deck area where he was shooting the most from. I don't think the skids would provide enough protection for my tastes.

Just my observations. I'm not a blue water sailor, so if I got anything wrong, please be kind when pointing out any mis-observations. ;)

Skids/pallets are partial concealment at best. They are not cover by any definition. They would be better if some sort of cloth could have been added to make them full concealment. At least then you could shoot and move without obvious observation. Play pop a mole with the bashtards. Try not to ever shoot more than twice from the same location. My preference would have been to shoot from the prone position when possible, off a bipod with a couple of sandbags on either side of my firing position. Thus lower profile, and less of a target. Warning shots my ass. Shoot to kill (center of mass), or don't waste your ammo.

Swap out the aAR-15s for a True 1000Yd weapon like an AR-10 with a 24" Barrel, and when given the "Weapons Free" command by the Captain, place the first few (5) shots in the water, 20 ft in front of the approaching skiff, to let them know that they are "Under Fire"....
Then if they do NOT take the Hint, start plinking into the skiff, and Holing the Hull with a bunch of rounds. If I happened to hit a few Bodies in the mean time, "To Bad, So Sad"....[violin] Nothing deters these Yahoos, like their skiff sinking out from under them, on the High Seas.... come to think of it, a Ma Duce on a Pintal Mount would be even better.... Hard to plug those 1/2" holes, in the bottom of the skiff, with your fingers and still navigate the boat.....[lolol] [sawgunner]

Straight to the simplest point.. Sink them and the fight go's with them... Until they show up in larger vessels and heavier arms.. Wonder what an rpg would cost over there?

Just enough holes through the hull to ensure a sinking, yet not so many or so large that it sinks to quickly.. Need time to assemble all hands to the stern for a final farewell wave!! See above..

So if the pirate skiff sinks, and the pirates wind up feeding the sharks. Does an incident report need to be filed?

That should be tax deductible, and a business expense.;)

Considering the response to Piracy throughout the ages I personally don't see why the waste of so much good ammo. A few rounds across the bow should be more than sufficient.

Would have to classify that as the same as "Backhoe Justice"..

Not much reason not to go with the biggest possible caliber in this scenario. Save the ARs for when you are the boarders.

Men often learn very little when there are not immediate consequence's to their sins. If it were me and someone came at my ship and crew firing AK-47's there might just be an immediate if perhaps limited object lesson on why piracy is wrong. Just sayin.

That would be OK, as long as you never went into a Foreign Port with your boat, without a Customs Locker..... Otherwise any Weapons would be considered "Contriband" and Seized by the Custom Agents upon arrival. Not all other nations are as nice about weapons aboard visiting Vessels as the USA is..... and some are down right NASTY..... .....
