Personally, I found that you need to choose the types of fats that you consume as a condition for weight loss and for health.. Cutting out all fats is impossible and unwise. Your body requires fats not only for energy but for many other bodily functions as in hormonal production and and nutrient transport..
I live on fat - actually added a 1/4 stick of butter to my bowl of leftover chicken for lunch today. My body fat comp is around 8% Fats that are solid at room temp are stable and don't oxidize. Fats that are chemically extracted from plants with stuff like hexane are extremely unstable and oxide rapidly. (canola, corn, sunflower, safflower) I wasn't always 8% body fat, check my signature 'Gone Primal' - I was a chub a year ago (while trying to cut my fat and eat more oatmeal... )
The family is in the process of shifting over to the primal way. One week at a time. It is overwhelming at first for the Clydarina. The other night we had a beefy cauliflower bake. I was told that hunger was following the meal about 1 hour later. My simple response was, "Well, next time don't drain off all that fat."
It's pretty difficult to reprogram your thinking and reject years of brainwashing we've all received since elementary school about the food pyramid and the "proper" balanced diet. However, there's enough information and testimonials here to change the world. I'm in!
