All the media, surely by government prompting, has jumped on the wagon to prosecute the news media for leaking secrets in our so-called war on terrorism. The problem with this, as I see it, is that if the news can't report a travesty to our constitutional rights because some general or government weinie decides it is classified, then who defends our rights? Who decides to trust the government in what they can or cannot do to our rights during this war on terrorism? If we allow the condemnation of our free press in the name of national security, kiss your few remaining rights goodbye. If you believe the government won't abuse the limits, then I want to sell you a bridge. It will only hurt a little bit. I won't come in your mouth. Am I the only one that sees this?
The question remains, is the justification valid, or simple smoke and mirrors? Logic can, and does fail when you step back and look at the law of unintended consequences.
This is a sticky situation. <Quick Aside>, I just saw Arlen Spectre saying that the Executive Branch is overstepping it's powers... Calling for investigations... Those who do not know, Spectre is a Republican and also on the Judiciary Committee... Big news<> I have gotten many emails the past 2 days talking about this leak. Many were forwards from members of the military in Iraq. All were damning the NYT and calling for charges of treason. I can understand the frustration of those who are in the line of fire as well as thier viewpoint from the sandbox. Many of them se this as a setback to the WOT. But, Is news of the .gov snooping in bank records really any surprise to us? Seems like I already knew it was going on. I can also see the need for a .gov watchdog as well. You know, Power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely kinda thing. I feel that we are headed down a slippery slope. I think that at the bottom is totalitarian rule. I don't like it. The second ammendment is all but gone. The 4th is about gone as well. If the First goes... God Bless us all. I love this country. I don't have to love it's rulers. I can support the troops without having to bow to the men who sent them overseas. I can honor our heroes without having to agree with the task they were ORDERED to carry out. High polarization being carried out right now in the media. By design? dunno, but the rats are leaving the ship in droves right now. You think Buffet gave the Gates foundation 30 Billion so he could save the world? Bah... Foundations are the best tax shelter in the world. Think Gates is the Richest man in the world? Bah, just in the paperwork. The vanderbilt and Rothchild wealth is estimated in the Trillions... Just not atributed to one man. I see a larger power play going on here and a breaking of the ranks on many levels. Just hope I will be around when the dust clears. I also hope that there exists an organization or person who will tell me when my .gov is breaking the rules. Sticky sticky

Bush saide ina speech over a year ago they were snooping in bank records. Shit man they have dont this since Banks were kicked into the Computer age. I dont like all the snooping either, But my bank record wont be found in a bank. I use mason jar file.
