    Short Lesson on Spending ...

    Why the U.S. was downgraded:
    • U.S. Tax revenue: $2,170,000,000,000
    • Fed budget: $3,820,000,000,000
    • New debt: $ 1,650,000,000,000
    • National debt: $14,271,000,000,000
    • Recent budget cuts: $ 38,500,000,000

Let's now remove 8 zeros, and pretend it's a household budget:
    • Annual family income: $21,700
    • Money the family spent: $38,200
    • New debt on the credit card: $16,500
    • Outstanding balance on the credit card: $142,710
    • Total budget cuts: $385

    Got it?

OK, now Lesson # 2: go
Here's another way to look at the Debt Ceiling:

Let's say, You come home from work and find there has been a sewer backup in your neighborhood and your home has sewage all the way up to your ceilings.

What do you think you should do?

    •Raise the Ceilings, or
    •Pump out the ****

Your Choice is coming November 20XX

We have a monster in the closet and the door keeper continues to over feed it. This problem can be solved by some serious belt tightening of the gub from local to national. Cut off all foreign aid, close 90% of over seas bases, stop playing policeman for all the world's problem areas, and most importantly seriously wean most of the welfare cases from the teat. Cut all alcoholics/druggie subsidies, kick them out of subsidized housing and let them starve or get a job. Cut off all aid to illegals and deport every one who violates any law w/warning that if they return they will serve a mandatory sentence at hard labor. There is still time to stop the ship from sinking but the iceberg is looming very close.

I am with @oldawg on this one, they will just keeping digging the hole deeper. At some point everything will collapse upon itself and a lot of folks not prepared... will be buried in that hole.

In Hebrew history the city/temple/nation was defeated/destroyed in 70 AD. Point to this is that as the enemy armies approached many escaped, many fled to the "protection" of the city, and were eventually killed, died, or led off into captivity/slavery. We here in America are seeing the enemy approaching---some of us will be prepared/flee, some will run to the gub troughs, and they will be led off into captivity, dead, or killed. Things got so bad in Jerusalem that cannibalism erupted, children were killed to prevent them from dying of starvation, etc. What is going to happen here--when the system stops there is going to be trouble on many fronts. Starvation will make even the best of people become animals.
