I notice there has been no mention of The stoppage of weapon and ammo imports from Russia as on the fifth of this month, I went out and grabbed a 1000 7.62x39 and will grab more soon so If you shoot that cal you may want to look into it.

I'll stick with the American made stuff, I've tried a couple of FA AK-47's at a birthday party and by the third shot I was busting leaves out of a tree, But then again now day's I shoot for meat vs. paper.
Don't get me wrong, I can cook both, But meat is much more filling !

I buy mine through an arms dealer. He told me not to worry, that it'll be flooding into our country for years to come.

Yah just thought I would mention it this seems to be a bit of a prepper sight . I read the article on Info Wars wich tends to be accurate with there news. I didn't phone down to billy bob at the local Guns r Us who talked to a buddy that says its all cool.
I tend never to belive the guy that wants your money JMO.

I agree. But he's the brother of my old spotter and he never see's a penny until I have the merchandise in hand. And like he said, just because they officially stop selling it doesn't mean much. There are huge stockpiles of the stuff already sold and will be sold again. Plus the call of the American dollar is strong and unscrupulous and greedy politicians and arms merchants will keep the ammo and guns flowing as long as possible. You don't really think they'll stop because they pass a law, do you?

I wasn't directing my post at anyone so no offence I hope was taken, Just The US is in fact trying to level sanctions on Russia and it is a fact Russia has said they can and will drop the us $ and no longer do any trade (wich could in fact help cripple the economy ) "IF" things go the way Obanana is pushing you can be sure the US will no longer allow any imports and Russia will not be importing anything. Now I no there are hundreds of thousands of rounds in stores now but you don't buy them (at least up here in Canada buy the 100 box) you buy cases so any stoppage and it will disappear as fast as .22 LR did. Hey I have never seen the shelves empty of .22 L,LR,S , .308 brass, powder etc.. so maybe I read more into things I do wish I would have bought a lot more .22 when I read it was going to be in short supply.

No offense taken. Our wal-mart never had .22LR, Luckily I have a good supply of the stuff. Components are far too expensive now to reload. The last I reloaded was for my old Automag before I packed it away. Most of my target practice is done with issued ammo or I sometimes splurge for some practice. I have encountered a shortage of belted 5.56mmthrough all sources. I blame homeland for the shortages.

Too many countries and and companies make better than the Russian ammo.

But do they do it as cheaply and reliably as Russia does HK? I've never had one misfire or hang fire in thousands of fired thousands of Russian ammo, not even that black .22LR they made

I have shoot a lot of brands of AK type ammo. Never had a misfire when used in Mil arms.

Then we've both been lucky. The only ammo I trust 99% is what I have loaded and tested myself. I've had several misfires of American ammo, military and civilian. The AK is a great weapon,I prefer it over our M-16. Though the sixteen looks better.

I will weigh in with one point only,( you all know more about 'em than I, but I know the springs have to be replaced on some guns to account for different ammo, or the ammo will not load correctly.
This is a problem for some hunting weapons. Using military ammo (I think, though I could have that backwards)

I guess the main reason I posted it was, Last year I was told buy a friend there was going to be a shortage of .22 ammo. My thought was "not a chance" everyone makes it and there is more .22 then anything ells. within a few months all that was around was CCI Stinger that will not cycle in most semi's and Winchester Wild Cat wich is the dirtiest crap you can buy Now I cant find any, All the .22 ammo is made in the US. So yah ok right now there is lots of 7.62x39 at an affordable price but for the cost of a case I will grab one.
And lastly if it was just the news article I wouldn't have posted , But your president has said on air many times "There is going to be trade embargos/ Sanctions " etc.. I never herd him say we are going to stop all trade except affordable gun's and ammo and, since he would like nothing better then to disarm the country I have to assume there could be an ammo shortage for 7.62x39.
This is JMO take it with a grain of salt and if you own anything that may shoot 7.62x39 or 7.62x54 and possibly 7.62x25 you may want to look into it ? JIC
I will stop rambling now hahaha

Chance of a complete embargo, meaning world wide to include the US Mfg is pretty slim.

As to the "SPRING ISSUE" I will challenge all, if you have a SKS, that you remove your firing pin ( a single tough to remove pin holdes it in place) and see if there is any packing cosmoline from 30 years back still in place. In short all the past and recent SKS rifles I've cleaned have had sticky firing pins. Certainly a reason for misfires. YMMV and yes the spring loaded firing pin, as designed, is best.

That reminds me, I need some ammo for my Krinkers. I knew Obozo was coming for our guns as soon as he stepped on the stage after Sandy Hook. The spring in a Sig P-226 is why I suggested Tulammo and not Remington to a gut yesterday. Hotter ammo functions better with stronger springs. I like CCI Stingers, they function well in the Jenning.

    That is a popular misconception.

Ammo designed to be fired in weapons that use the open bolt system or in most mil weapons with free floating firing pins require a harder primer strike to activate the primer.

Mil rated "hard" primers can also be had to reload ammo for such weapons.

    YMMV

I do not have any practice ammo. I did, at one time, reload a lot of 45ACP that I used in one "Gun" that was set up for 230 cast RN in light loads. In such a case the recoil spring was set for such light loads. Better to have a weak recoil spring for they will most often always cycle far enough back to reload a round as long as the gun is not too dirty and it will only cause battering of the frame.

Too strong a recoil spring and you may have FTF and Stove Pipes.

Too light a firing pin and too strong a recoil spring and you may experience a "out of battery" explosion, especially if the trigger spring is a bit light or the sear is worn or worked on by a klutz.

Know what to expect and know why you are doing a change.

    YMMV
