I have been holding onto copper penny’s as I find them for a while but copper bullion coins are new to me. Copper is around 3.00 pound
It might be of interest to some, but I can't take 'em to my local coin store and swap 'em for fiat. Gold and Silver is all they take.
At about $.20/oz for copper it does not seem Worthwhile to collect compared to silver. Neither would I go out and buy copper pennies, but if you can get them free from pocket change then sure.
If I were going to but some copper I would not pay .99+ cents per OZ while copper is about $4.00 per pound. I have thought about buying some & if I did, I would have bought the 10 lbs bars instead they are about $55-60 each. A LOT cheaper that way. But I just stack silver as I can afford to instead.
Every now and again we get a chance to gather up wire left over on installations. One project had some 4 and 5 foot long sections of 500kcmil wire, stranded copper. I made a lot of money off those scraps. Mostly it's #2 and #6 used in electronics installations.
ALL of my hunting and fishing money comes from recycling metals. Steel, aluminum, and copper, brass in rare cases. Currently saving for a new laptop. Scrap metals are a side effect of my job, and I keep my eyes open for odd bits others have overlooked as well.
Not advocating spending $.99 an ounce for something that is worth $.20 but there are a number of different styles of copper rounds which takes money for dies ect with the cost at this point is more for manufacturing than content. I wonder if someone is speculating on an incredible spike on metals that would take copper rounds to dollars per ounce along with a spike in Gold and Silver. In the mean time I will buy Silver at around $20.00 and salt away those pre 1982 pennys for $.01
Copper is critical in communications equipment, automotive, so much else. We are experiencing a lot of copper theft in the wireless industry.
Had a helicopter searching the apartment complex being built behind our house last week. Turns out there had been copper thefts from the buildings in the middle of the night previously. I gotta move...
Just add some lead to the individuals moving the copper. Then the copper stays intact and your shooting skills stay sharp.

since this thread got a tad off course. I would suggest buying copper bullion. The simple reason ...you can resell it on ebay for 3 to 4 times what you paid for it. I highly recommend provident metals.They have the best prices i have found.
