Our Personal Journey From Fatville, USA

I will begin this thread by saying it has nothing to do with going Primal. I can't bring myself to break my eating habits when I've always had the results I wanted from my own routine.
May 2013, started the journey to parenthood with my husband.
August 2013, crash and burn of that plan with a miscarriage.
September 2013 (2 weeks later), second chance at a child.
I am now 28 weeks along, and taking it easy due to the previously mentioned Epic Fail.
This is the first time I've ever really talked about it, outside of our family unit.
Now, once baby is here, I will have been pregnant effective one year. The Ole Man said he won't work out until I can (I love that guy :)), due to my frustrations with lack of exercise.
So, end of May-beginning of June, the ball should be rolling on the exercise front.

My routine prior to pregnancy (and a bit of drama on our end), was 5-10 (depending on the mood and other activity. Also, these were 7 minute miles) run, accompanied by 50 push ups, 50 elevated push ups, 75 dips, a mish mash of core exercises that would basically round out to 400-450 "crunches", 25 squats (I'm a weenie), and as many chin ups as I could knock out by the end.
Sometimes I threw other things in for flavor or to spice it up, but, essentially, that was it.
Weight training was not really done more than once a week-my arms were big enough without that shgffvj.
Husband is doing the same routine, but he WAS a big bass terd, so he will be hitting weights after about a 4 mile run, more push ups, same core.
He misses his six(deformed twenty)-pack...so do I (heh).
As we stand, we are the laughing stock of our former selves.
I'm currently 5'3", 210 lb, with elephantitis of the front.
    Formerly 165 lb, lean.
    He's currently 6'3", 240 lb., flabbergasted.
    Formerly 240 lb, rock.

When this starts, we'll track for 30 days with photos, if they are of interest.

Let the countdown commence: T-minus 12 weeks (this will be reevaluated once I have the baby, so we know the day, etc.)

Put your feet up and don't forget to drink water, take care of you & your baby. 12 weeks is a long time but it is also not so long. That is so sweet that your husband is "going thru pregnancy" with you. My husband got cravings and started secretly eating tons of Hostess cakes, he gained more then I did. It's not fatville, it's blooming!

    LOL that's fantastic.
Blooming is a nice word; I'm big heap cellulite slayer, there's no room for nice words here.
12 weeks does feel long/not long, I completely agree with that statement, so I'm getting hyped up for PT.
Love handles, meet thy doom: planks.

Thanks! The support is much appreciated. We can't wait either and thanks for the luck ![shiz]

Well, I'm closing in on 29 weeks this Monday and I have to confess, I've cheated.
The weather is finally letting us really get back to work, and we jumped in. Having a watermelon hanging out of my front wasn't exactly conducive, but I managed; XLS and I went to bed sure we had never been more exhausted, more whooped, ever in the history of a sore back. This was not my only feat; there's more.
So we passed out at ten-thirty or so, falling into the deep coma of the truly exhausted. Around 2:47 A.M. (Yes, I actually checked), my dog started barking. I was tired/sore enough that I was going to open a window and shout SHADDUP!, but my dogs don't bark for no reason. She was put up, too, so I went out to listen (boxers, T shirt, house shoes). It went something like this:
(Dog constantly barking as I open the door)
    Cows screaming. Coyotes?
Calf in corral bawls once. Canine snarls. I leap off the porch and take off-can make out all the heifers standing outside the calf corral screaming. Haul ass back to the house, XLS going what is it? I magically already get a pair of shoes on, shout "coyotes in the calves", with XLS on my a$$, and promptly trip off five foot porch.
XLS shouts SKYE!! I'm up and running with a "landed on my knee" over my shoulder (baby's fine). Running up the road...running...running...thinking, why is the corral gate so far up!!!?!!! Calf bawling. Four pairs of eyes look up from the calf, XLS coming w a weapon (I had a weapon too-it was just a maglite, though). Chased coyotes to the far side of the corral, XLS took care of them, we got the calf up and walking and one other came running from a hiding spot to us. The rest apparently ran through the fence when those bass terds came in. Needless to say, I'm more sore than I know what to do with. I didn't know I could get sore like this anymore. I feel old, and pregnant, and am more than ready for The Journey to begin!

Well, XLS found me on the closet floor curled around a pair of my jeans in the fetal position...
    X: What are you doing?
Me: (sobbing) I-I-I m-mm-m-miss pants w-with r-r-real p-p-pockets (cue unattractive string of drool)
    X: Aah......
Some slap the sense into this woman ensued, and I'm drawing ever closer to 30 weeks.

Just so you know, Skye, 32 weeks is the beginning of viability of a fetus... Anything after that makes it stronger, and healthier.... Momma has delivered a bunch of 32 Week'ers and most did well in the NICU, and Graduated, to go home.... We have a Nephew that was 32 Week'er.... He is now 7, and just a terror of the neighborhood... As most boys are.... At that age....

Thanks! I didn't know that-every doctor/person/2-cents-er says 37 weeks, and I thought the baby dropped the other day (he/she did it to me a week before as well, but 15 min later was back in place. He moved the ball that far was all). Haven't had much back pain throughout the pregnancy but the small of my back started aching monstrously, so I packed a hospital bag and stuck an index card of don't forget this or that in XLS' wallet.
Back pain subsided and baby moved back into place. I think he's as anxious to say hello as we are at this point.

37 weeks was the Old Standard, but with modern NICU Technology, 32 weeks is the New Standard, with some even lower. The survival rate goes down, real fast, below 32 weeks. Momma has spent a career, as a High Risk Labor & Delivery RN. Her last Hospital Position was to keep the Kids Inside, as long as possible, and to deal with early deliveries. She is now, reTIRED, and is a HQ Staff Member with "Doctor's without Boarders" She has deployed to Africa twice, and deployed on Teaching Assignments to major Medical Schools in the NE USA, all the Provincial Medical Schools in Canada, and some major Medical Schools in Kommiefornia, teaching and Certifying, Neonatal Resuscitation. There isn't enough room, on her Scrubs, for all the Stork Pins, she has acquired, during her career.

Yea, She is one Great lady, and I love her, Dearly.....

She sounds like a great lady, and all I can say about her qualifications is DAAAAAAAAAAANGG!
It rests a lot easier on my mind to hear that-XLS was 3 months early, while my mother approached the point to having to be induced, so I'm well aware this is not a "science" and just glad to know I'm approaching the point where it's "okay".

P.S.-Someone give that lady a bag of chocolate! Lol

Aaaah, so in other words this Easter she's getting one of those BIIIG, solid bunnies.

I'm just a lowly genius in every field other than math. For some reason today, I thought, let me re-track the pregnancy, up until now, "just to check".
    Well.
I'm 31 weeks today, not 30 weeks Monday (cue fizzled out New Year's sounds).
Exercise last night consisted of XLS standing on one end of a baby aisle in Walmart while I ran back and forth between him and random baby paraphernalia; he caught me taking a breather, staring at a pack of nipple pads.
    Impatiently, he snapped, "No."
Patiently, I began, "I don't understand why we can't stuff something in our bras without paying for stuffing. Isn't that what tissues are for?"
XLS repeated his previous statement; I went back to cardio. We both came to a screeching halt when faced with formula and baby cereal o_O We won't get into that.

Last month we did a lot more caving, hiking, etc., but it's been too rainy (I can knee and elbow crawl holding the bump off the cave floor, but I can't walk in the rain, according to X. I might slip), so haven't done much of the outdoors in a few weeks aside from messing with calves and trimming a few horse hooves (I am not trimming; I brush. The last time I assisted with trimming, I thought I was bigger than the mare I was holding. She got pissed, lifted me off the ground by her halter and set me down several feet away from X, then picked me up on her hind legs and set me back down. X turned back to his normal color in shades, then wouldn't let me hold the halter anymore...I don't know why), but I think I need to at least do some walking to avoid becoming stagnant or having something like my leg muscles atrophy. I'm worried I'll never run again. I feel like I'm turning into a useless spider-shaped lump that constantly drinks milk or eats strawberries and cheese.

It has been a "Long Standing Tradition in our Families, on both sides, that Dad gets the Ears, from ALL the Chocolate Easter Bunnies..... If there isn't a Dad in that Family, it reverts to, first the Paternal, and then the Maternal GrandPa... If either are still pushing Air, in and Out... That is the only way this GrandPa ever gets any Bunny Ears... Our youngest Daughter is a Widow, so there is a chance that I may get a set of ears this Easter... Hope springs Eternal...

Has any GrandPa ever snuck out and bought his own Easter bunny ears? I understand this would be blasphemous, and ruin the fun of the winning Dad/GrandPa...just sayin'.

No Comment..... Actually, there is no place to go to get fresh Chocolate Bunnies, unless we make a Town Trip. That is $200US Roundtrip, which makes Bunny Ears a very expensive proposition... Unless there was another reason to go to town. (MD Appointment, etc)
