The local City and County are getting a surplus MRAP. They are getting it for $5000 which is the transportation cost and depending on condition and needed mods is a good deal. The local LEO's are going to have a big new toy that they will be itching to use. The other local agency's have lighter duty purpose built law enforcement vehicles so they may get into a ego driven arms race... Anyone have a LAWs rocket or RPG 7 for sale?[sarc1[ I would pay $5K for one ......................................................................................................... The vehicle, awarded by the Law Enforcement Support Office, is a heavy-duty, multi-wheeled vehicle commonly known as a MRAP. Technically, it is a Caiman Multi-Theater Vehicle (MTV). The MRAP awarded to our local law enforcement agencies will serve two primary purposes: 1. It will be a rescue vehicle for the evacuation of citizens, hostages or injured officers. 2. It will allow for law enforcement teams to be safely inserted into an otherwise unsafe environment.
Someone here posted this the other day but I feel it needs reposting. If true it would stop these things RFN and they ain't moving till the part gets replaced and the spring brake reset.
I would ask the Chief, and the Town Council, " Who is going to pay for the replacement Tires?".......
Methinks that BTs point was that they might have to a) change a lot of them...should something untoward happen to them and b) they ain't cheap. They are getting a "cheap" MRAP or MTV but the ROI is going to be far higher than they anticipate and there may very well be...unintended consequences should that vehicle EVER see civilian service. And what about: or
When we talk about weapons of war, and the second amendment, we need to realize that, when the Constitution was written, the high tech weapons of war were being used by our civilian militias (i.e. Kentucky long rifles, cannon, and home made grenades). whatever it took to defend themselves, they used. Had they had access to RPGs, automatic rifles, Barretts, other similar weapons, they would have used them, and kept them in their homes.
No argument there. My point was simply ONE MORE EXAMPLE of the hypocrisy by our present turd in chief. No, I have no respect for him as an individual or a human being. The office he holds (@$$ monkey for his handlers) is NOT the office he was elected to (President of the United States of America). Mr. Obama is far too courteous for this crapstain on underwear of this world! He is not a real man by any but a genetic definition and I look forward with great relish his last day in office (January 19, 2017...I'm not advocating anything else).
DL, you and I both hold him in high contempt. I advocate nothing other than voting, but that being a corrupt system as well, secession is also a very viable option, especially for my beloved Texas. But should it secede, we will have to export many from Dallas, Houston and Austin to a state which does not hold the Constitution in high regard. And those who think the Republic will support them as the sit and procrastinate will be advised to cross that border as well, lol.
In other words, free stuff for the cost of transport. Gotta wonder how much dot gov paid BAE for them originally. (I have the 5K if I can figure out how to be "awarded" some similar milsurp.)
In 2011 the cost per MRAP was between $600k and $1M each, depending on how they were outfitted. Nice return if you can get one for $5k.
and that was the Transport Cost, to deliver it to the Muni.... They couldn't drive it as it wasn't Licensed, OR Street Legal until it was delivered....
