Aloha all, Not really sure where this goes.... but found this guy in my greenhouse so I'll put it here First of all... big moths around here... especially in my culture are either a bad omen or a dead ancestor coming to visit... not especially the best feeling... especially since all the big ones... (I'm talking the size of my fist or larger are usually brown or black ugly things that flutter around in the dark)... Well all kinds of things get stuck in my green house as it is open at both ends... everything from birds to butterflies to bees and bumble bees.... of course when my Daughter was little we had to catch them, look at them in awe and then release them... This guy was in there this morning... so I took out the old butterfly net I keep hand to "save the God's little special creatures" as we used to say and caught this guy... Didn't notice it till I was about to let it go... first time I have ever seen one like this! Yup God's special little creature... they usually give me the creeps... but this guy or gal is absolutely beautiful! Anyone ever see a moth like this??? Thought I would share! Take Care and God Bless, Bear
Found out this beauty is an Oleander Hawk Moth... came to Hawaii in the 70's and is common in the Mediterranean and Northern Africa... here's a link for more info... Oleander hawk-moth videos, photos and facts - Daphnis nerii | ARKive Cool stuff! Bear
Weird. By phone, this is a blank page, until quoted, then I can see the smiley. By phone, all Smiley's above the sarcasm Smiley's are just gone as choices in the drop down menu. All the rest of the Smiley's are there.
